Deleted. Offensive. Clare On the subject of her dept, can she confirm that cream cakes and sweets are more effective form of contraception than a packet of birth control pills? If so, how about upping solo mum’s benefit levels so they can match her own example.
Fair enough with the censorship Clare, though it has been allowed in the past.
But as I’ve said on Red Alert twice before, if she’s got a medical reason for her obesity then I’ll break cover and appologise in person infront of all the cameras and media she can muster.
If it’s just greed and glutony, then like her moo moos, she should wear it.
If I may, on a personal level, since I’ve been ‘addressed’.
What exactly are you guys doing in caucus?
You’re letting the country down with an uninspiring opposition, perhaps even more than the government in their blue rinse spite.
Sort it out, there’s a love.
My last post on this website. I don’t think this party is the one I’m looking for… And I even voted Labour after Michael Foot, bless him.
“Deleted. Offensive. Clare”
In context, putting the word fat infront of a ministers name, hardly matches the offense of beating up on solo mums, the unemployed, the sick and invalids.
But your website, your rules, your game.
Viva revolution.
Sorry you took offence Alien. I think it’s important to not be personally derogatory. I’ve been quiet on red Alert the last few months for various reasons.
We are all working pretty hard and the government is on the back foot becasue of it. But I can certainly try harder no doubt. Thnaks for the feedback.
Not offended, Clare, just disapointed the people I voted for aren’t who I hoped they’d be, but thanks for the forum and the chance to try and get through to our representatives.
Good luck.
Transmission ends.
Why is the Basin Reserve Flyover half-baked? And why is it being ortrayed by the left as something extraordinary when it is MERELY A ROAD! A road being built over another road. Quite a clever solution to relieve traffic congestion in an already built up area.
I think it is time for me to have a say here.
Firstly the Basin Reserve Fly-ove has been in the planning stages for at least 15 years. 35,000 vehicles come through the Mt Vic tunnell and congestion in this area is a massive concern. Essentially the gridlock commences first thing in the morning and starts again at 3 until 6.30 in the afternoons. I am not a traffic engineer, but it is interesting to note that Monique seems to be. Maybe she can explain to all us avid readers the design she would use.
47% of retirees have not enough to live on. Thank God for Kiwisaver. The one (and I mean only one) good thing Cullen did as Finance Minister. Why – because it encourages people to take responsibility for their own lives. The problem is only going to get worse in the medium term and that is why the pension needs to be means tested. Maybe some politician can explain to me why a multi-millionaire with extremely generous private superannuation should be eligable for a pension paid for by the young guy with a wife and kids paying taxes.
Thirdly – consistency. Clare Al1en is being extremely offensive. I I made similar comments about any Labour MP that had a high BMI then you would ban me. But I suppose it is one rule for Labour cheerleaders and one rule for everyone else. your Blog – but is that the way you run this blog.
Monty: Alien was moderated. Everyone is subject to the same rules. Clare
No, 47% of retirees don’t have enough money to undertake international travel and other luxuries. Please state the research correctly, David:
The figures, based on spending by households through Statistics New Zealand research, found a two- person household in Auckland or Wellington would need $241.35 a week for a “no-frills” retirement, while a couple in provincial New Zealand living the same lifestyle would need $244.24 a week.
The cost for a two-person household to have more choices that include some luxuries was $761.56 a week in metropolitan areas, and $693.83 a week in regional New Zealand.

Out of interest, how does that answer and this statement reconcile with Labour’s intent to lift the retirement age to 67? While you are at it, just how luxurious will Labour be making retirement in response to this research – and how will that be paid for exactly?
ha ha Monty. no I’m not a traffic engineer. I’m a housewise. Which makes me an expert on everything. And I’m coming from a point of common sense. A flyover is merely a road. Nothing sinister. A road over a road. I can’t see the problem with it myself.
I don’t care what they build as long as they get on and build it. There are people dying of old age that were children when the Wellington Motorway was started. Labour are nearly as bad as the Greens and some of those crazy Greens think that if you build a new road it will just encourage people to get up and go to work twice in the mornings.
