Here’s a presentation I gave to a public meeting in my electorate this week. Te Atatu is plagued by traffic congestion and poor public transport. The long term solution is a dedicated busway on the North West Motorway, like the successful Northern Busway. But I think a commuter ferry service linking Te Atatu and downtown via Auckland’s blue highway could also be part of our community’s smart transport future.
So why dont you start one up then. yourself. With your own money.
Gotta love the constructive tory feedback. Guessing OneTrack didn’t watch the presentation…
I think the business case is convincing. Any details on the annual operating subsidy for the current West Harbour service?
Hi Tim. I don’t know about the West Harbour subsidy. I don’t think that info is in the public domain. But after talking to a few of the operators the best estimate for a start up service in an area like Te Atatu would be about $300-350 K p.a.
