Ah TVNZ7 the channel no body bloody watches or cares about!!! I wonder when Shearer gets rolled whether the new leader of the Labour party will carry on the same pathetic stunts; if Megan Woods has her way all future Labour party backed protests will involve goose stepping!!
Yeah boo hoo. Oh well. Read a book.
It would be interesting to see any polling on this issue. I wonder how many people 15+ have even heard of TVNZ7, let alone know what ‘public service TV’ is? I guess in the warm salons of Kelburn and Ponsonby the numbers would look pretty good?
Hi Clare. Just to let you know it would actually be cheaper to donate “free” Sky subscriptions to the Poor than to continue with this mishmash of a public service/commercial tv channnel. I do not like to hear your threats of burdening kiwi taxpayers further just to advance your political agenda.
@ Paddy, jennifer and Allyson,
Hi Clare too, It must seem a thankless task sometimes but keep up the good work.
As for you three above… amazing and disturbing that citizens who can string a sentence together, should see no need for a public service TV channel free of government and commercial influence. Come Sunday we will be the only developed OECD country without such a service?
It is strange but it is my experience that the loss is of no concern to the uninterested uninformed, AND, sadly many of “right” persuasion. To be fair though significant numbers of the “right” are dismayed by the actions of their leaders.
It seems very likely many who are happy to see the demise of “7″ also see an informed public as a threat to their priviliged position? Like some of the ‘Book Burners’ of history?
We must never forgive the Nat`s for their deliberate attempt to ‘dumb us down’ – quite despicable behavior by any government – it is more reminiscent of totalitarian administrations

Well said
“I wonder how many people 15+ have even heard of TVNZ7″
Well my ten year old daughter used to love the 7 o’clock science doccos, especially ‘wonders of the universe’ and the history of science series.
I guess her options are either dumb down and watch shortland street, like the good people of Epsom (divs), or wait the eight years out ’til she can claim her revenge at the ballot box.
Dumb us down? 66% of us voted last election.
@ Paddy,
And LOOK what 47% of them voted for, clearly a sign the dumbing down is already proving to be an effective approach for the top earners in this country…
…& 33% didn’t bother to take the opportunity…dumbed down and intimidated by all the spin that was infused into our media over election time in the guise of conveying non-biassed information.
The coverage of the election was a pitiful excuse for informing voters and made me embarrassed to be part of this country. It was disgusting
@SJW “The coverage of the election was a pitiful excuse for informing voters and made me embarrassed to be part of this country. It was disgusting”
How? Did Labour get less time than National to impart their views and policies? Did National have more money to spend than Labour? Did journalists not take the side you deemed approproiate (bias – but one you agree with). It always comes down to how the message is delivered (“how much will that cost Phil?” “Umm, now wait a minute, um….um” is not convincing)
Also, if you find a one policy campaign (asset sales, asset sales, asset sales….etc)”disgusting”, then address your concerns to those that managed and designed the losing sides strategy. It was not well received.
