This morning John Key, responding to criticism that Foreign Minister Murray McCully is missing in action as his Ministry is radically restructured and as his emails remain a matter of interest, told the world:
I have absolutely no clue where he is
This is a serious situation. Losing someone like Kate Willinson, now that happens most days, but losing a Foreign Minister is a whole other thing. I’m sure the PM has tried emailing him on the Gmail. The whole country needs to lend a hand to help find Murray. A possible sighting has been reported, and an image sent through to us to help in the search. If you know where in the world is Murray, please let us know.

Is this it Grant?
Is this the way you are going to win the hearts and minds of Kiwis?
To think you pretend that you would be in government.
Clue: Look for empty bottles of $185 a bottle Ata Rangi Pinot Noir ’06 and Ministerial credit card receipts.
He’s probably off looking for Labour’s leader who has been missing for some time now. I understand Murray was quite worried about his whereabouts.
Key likely doesn’t want to know where he is. Plausible deniability. Could he be out stitching up deals for his mates to run MFAT?
Aaah Toad, envy, envy envy. You just can’t resist can you?
My pick is he’s found Labour’s leader and they’ve polished off a crate of $185 a bottle Ata Rangi Pinot Noir ‘06 .
Key doesn’t know where his Foreign Minister is because he’s too busy being Prime Minister to have to worry about individual ministers every day and what they are doing. That comes with trusting your colleagues.
@Grant
@Whale – don’t ya want yer tory mate back?
!
@Toad LOL
@Dave – I wouldn’t mind having some of that grog!
@Anne – I wanna p*** up with dear leader
!
Top right, being fingered by the gendarmerie.
The wiggles did a song like this.
Can you help The Prime Minister find Murray?
Where’s Murray? Is he sleeping outside?
Where’s Murray? Has he gone for a ride?
Where’s Murray? Is he in the countryside?
Lookee lookee lookee lookee
Wy yi yi yi
Where’s Murray? Is he sleeping inside?
Where’s Murray? Is he still on his ride?
Where’s Murray? You know he’s nowhere in sight
Lookee lookee lookee lookee
Wy yi yi yi
CHORUS
Lookee lookee here
Lookee lookee there
Lookee lookee lookee lookee lookee everywhere
Lookee lookee here
Lookee lookee there
Lookee lookee Lookee lookee
Wy yi yi yi
Where’s Murray? Is he sleeping inside?
Where’s Murray? Is he still on his ride?
Where’s Murray? You know he’s nowhere in sight
Where’s Murray? Where’s Murray?
Apparently Gillard recently lost a Foreign Minister too.

Is that it Cam?
Is that all you are going to contribute to society?
To think you pretend that you would be rent-a-gob for daddie’s friends in government.
Only joking. Top bloke is whaleoik.
Looking forward to the follow up 60 minute piece when he sorts himself out.

The pm’s pension fund thanks you for your continued support.
Murray is turning the lights out at the last embassy we still have open.
@waterboy LOL
@Colonial Viper and al1ens LOL
@Ghost – that’s creepy
Woe is Foreign Affairs!
Given the immense amount of angst and concern over the disappearance of our Foreign Minister, Murray McCully, I’m delighted to report on Red Alert that he has been found. Mr Mallard has just advised the House he was seen this afternoon in the Beehive. Where he has been, and what he was doing during his abscence without leave has yet to be determined.
The little dictator has gone to ground…
The Nats dodge OIA requests
Oh for the transparency Mr Key promised in election 2008. Still just trifling matters according to the right.
Ironic that a guy who fought so hard on name suppression on the grounds that disclosure would be in the public interest is perfectly happy with Ministers not standing up and being counted when it matters and dodging of transparency and obligations for disclosure under the OIA.
@Anne – He’s been hivernating!

Great post Trev. You really won that one.
I think you mean Grant Robertson or… maybe wrong post.
Grant: Link to the real quote in context, rather than a out-of-context misquote on stuff. Here it is.
Thanks Anne – very interesting read. I have been interested to observe the increasing use of the following when someone is suggest NZ is not all it should be:
“it’s not as bad as ”
Apparently as long as our governments (I use plural to include previous governments, including Labour) are not rampantly despotic or dictatorial “it’s ok”, or if our poor are not as poor or as numerous as Somalia’s, “it’s ok”
So much for being aspirational, it seems our ever increasing goal is to not be as bad as some really bad places.
