Didn’t know you were such a Dr Brash supporter.
It is funny people talk about NZF being the party of the elderly, but ACT’s gotta be pushing them close, based on the two people they are most likely to have in parliament
@prickly one – I want Catherine Isaac to be the leader so there can be a principled party of the right rather than one led by idiots. Don gone by Christmas lunchtime and Banks by April Fools Day.
It is also worth remembering that these ‘assets’ MonKey is flogging off to his mates at knock down prices were bought and paid for by older New Zealanders. No wonder he has such contempt for them, because in his twisted mind, building up community assets is “socialism” which makes them a bunch of “socialists”. Pathetic, isn’t he? The last Cold War warrior?
Great posters and videos Trevor!
Is this a confirmation of a coalition with NZ First? A vote for Labour is a vote for Winston?
@ indiana, to me it looks like confirmation that the teflon is wearing off and the folks are waking up to this snake oil peddler.
@ jennifer, is Winston a different kind of snake oil peddler? Perhaps more honest and doesn’t owe the country any money?
Dr Brash is older than you and so is Banksy. Surely they deserve your respect Duck? After all they did build the country.
The advert is fatally flawed with one other oldie. Winston Peters. Surely he deserves your respect as well?
He may get it on November 26th if you all have to suck up to him to form a coalition.
oooooh eee: the right is losing their cool.
I agree Trevor. Met Catherine Isaac once and while I may not like her politics, she came across to me as a woman of integrity.
Nice to see the right with their tweeds down, and justifiably so. I don’t support the age argument though, it is about ideology. There are so many 60s, 70s, 80s still with most of their marbles. Unfortunately Brash lost his early on to the Chilean/Chicago dream.
Anyone would think that when people turn 65 they become an amorphous voting block. They don’t.
The elderly should receive consideration and care by virtue of their age. But respect isn’t a given. At any age it needs to be earned. I don’t know why I should respect Winston’s whingers and moaners or why you are extolling me to.
A whiff of defeatism Cactus Kate ?
I have no doubt Goff would be happy to offer Winston the Foreign Affairs Ministry- like before- where he did a credible job.
Much much easier than what job to give Don Brash, who National dare not touch now.
Not like the coup against Hide which was engineered by Joyce and associates.
Not to forget the removal of Harawira from the Maori party, also orchestrated by National..
gee that turned out well, splitting the Maori vote and diminishing your coalition partner.
Dunne must be thankfull hes a one man band
GWW not at all, thanks to the phenomenon of MMP Labour still have a chance of governing so not betting against or for anyone.
Yee haa!
That poster is awesome!
!!!!!
@Trev and Cactus – I want Cactus Kate to be the leader of the ACT Party cos a talking cactus would be a great circus act!
There’s no vacancies left at the circus Spud.
LOL Cactus @ 7.15am.
It’s the promise of an overseas posting I’d like to see more about. If we are all going to be funding Mr Brash’s salary again, I’d like to know… and sooner not later. I’m guessing whatever post is being contemplated wont be one of the surplus to requirement Public service jobs ACT and national want rid?
Lindsay – hear hear
I don’t know why I should respect Winston’s whingers and moaners or why you are extolling me to.
One of the “whingers and moaners” was my godmother. Yes, she’s one of those that has “died off” as John Key so eloquently puts it. Unlike you Lindsay, she didn’t have a nasty bone in her body. Whatever else you may think of him, I believe Peters genuinely does care about the elderly and he knows how to make them smile and feel good about themselves. Good on him for doing so.
Peters made an interesting comment, he suggested if it had been him taped it would have been published “by lunchtime”. I suspect he’s correct.
@Tracey
You seem to be falling for ‘what Winston says syndrome’. In all reality he would wrap it up in the courts quicker than you could say sub judice. It is after all his favourite phrase.
Anne, If you need a politician to make you “smile and feel good about yourself” something is fundamentally missing.
How old is John Banks? Does he know himself or is he too far gone? The Dom Post today has him as 61 but Wikipedia (born 2 December 1946) indicates that he is 65 next month.
@Cactus Kate , Aw
“‘what Winston says syndrome’”
You mean as opposed to “what John Key says syndrome”
I’ll bet my leaky house when the transcript is printed, and it will be eventually, Peters is correct. I note you didn’t deny if the tape was of Peters it would have been published quickly, and repeated by both major parties quickly.
Jesus Christ was the first socialist and the conservative party of the day did not like his message and closed him down.
They use different methods these days but they are still the same mean minded individuals.
Yes, Jennifer, Key’s teflon is wearing off. It’s now just a matter of whether enough of it comes off for the left to form a government, or whether the inertia created by Key’s policy of smiling and waving carries him through. If it’s the latter I think Key will find himself in a similar situation Julia Gillard’s in now – as soon as she won the election she became hated by the majority of the Australian population and is now having to deal with that throughout pretty much the whole of the electoral term – if she lasts that long. I can see that happening to Key. It was just a matter of time, but recent events have sped things up.
Trevor, it’d be good if you could rank the following:
A. a principled party of the right;
B. a party of the right led by idiots;
C. a principled party of the left;
D. a party of the left led by idiots.
…and when I say left and right, I mean generally, say, of positions taken by the Alliance on the one hand and ACT on the other.
I hear a new poster is required
“People who care for the Environment can be winners too”
Chris, sadly 75% of those olled don’t want asset sales but about 50% will vote for National. In the end with that kind of “logic” they will get what they deserve and so will everyone else.
My concern is what does Mr Key consider a “mandate” to sell off the assets? 50% of the vote or that he can form a party and get the legislation through? I have concerns about a policy this important going through by, say
51% to 49%
