McCully embarrassed by tuppawaka TVNZ banned

Posted by on October 13th, 2011

Can someone explain why McCully (Minister of RWC) can toss $2m towards the tuppawaka which is built on public land but support a ban on TVNZ filming the opening event.

Then there are questions of value for money, priorities etc.

    Heres the story

ONE News reporter Ruth Wynn-Williams was barred entry into the giant waka today.
She said she was told she was not welcome because questions have been raised by ONE News over the cost of the waka.

Good to see Nationals dream ride come crashing onto the rocks or the tupperware

    Bleep me, that’s a little excessive isn’t it? :o

So gwwnz. If you criticize you get banned? Wonder if the editorial policy will change either to be very compliant, or exercise greater critical responsibility. (You can’t boss me around Mate!)

Tuppawaka is just the tip of the iceberg. What about the money being wasted on Captain Ck Wharf? Millions of $$ for ‘in case we need it’ but nek minnit we haven’t

I wonder if the Tupperwaka will last as long as the genuine tupperware does? And who pays to maintain the ugly thing? Is it Ngati Whatua or the Govt? Too many questions and too much expense! It’s just like those plastic tikis, only bigger and uglier!

    /agreed

I’m truly amazed that someone agreed to have their culture cheapened like that. The one unfortunate lesson that Maori seemed to have learned from pakeha is that it’s all about the money.

Morning Report ran a brutal attack piece on Shane Jones the other day, that even managed to blame him for the delays. Could this have been the price of access to cover the opening? After the hatchet job on Jones, the piece tailed off with a balancing statement that he failed to return calls, or something.

On top of the debacle over the relocatable housing in CHC, the NACTS have been burning thru the long suffering Taxpayers money in fine style.

B’cos nobody is allowed to criticise this government and nobody is perfect!

  10. jennifer says:

@ ehoa, these Tories have carefully built their own ‘thought police’ to attack and destroy anyone brave or foolish enough to criticise them. Didn’t Stalin have a similar set up?

  11. ehoa says:

@jennifer…Stalin, Lennin..and then there was that funny little boy who was born in Austria….

  12. Anne says:

@ ehoa… do you mean that Austrian who had jewish blood in him?

  13. ehoa says:

    @Ann…that same one.

McCully is a pompous muppet but ‘thought police’ and Godwinning…really?

    Typical McBully style

We got from Tupperwaka to the 3rd Reich in 11 posts. New record, well done team.

  17. Spud says:

The government don’t want any scrutiny because the Tuppawaka is a Maoritime disaster! :-D

  18. Ianmac says:

    That’s clever Spud! :)

    Ianmac +1

Makes a change from all the smileys, Spud.
    Keep it up.
