Signs

Posted by on July 25th, 2011

I thought we lived in a free democracy. Since when did a sign become illegal when expressing an opinion or encouraging people to act? Does this ban all signs at marches that may in any way be linked to a movement or political party. The EC needs to pull their heads in. This is not the 1930s in Europe.

I agree with I/S about as regularly as the current snowfall levels.. but .. “This isn’t a new law; it has been an uncontentious part of our political landscape for decades. Even the much-reviled Exclusive Brethren obeyed it in their smear ads (which is why they were uncovered). What’s new is the insistence of one of our major parties that it does not apply to them. And I do not think that that is acceptable.” sums it up perfectly.

Your comment highlights a serious problem.
    1. in you, in that Your party has tinkered with our rights of free speech which I find hypocritical and goes directly to your integrity as a person.

    2. In answer to your question we don’t appear to be in a democracy.
The Labour party during it’s 9 years in government wrote laws retrospectively to get it’s members off of breaking the law and took away our basic freedom of expression and curtailed same, during an election year to get at your competitors.

This was not in our best interests and broke the maxim do no harm.
I think this makes you all ineligible for parliament let alone the government benches, I for one won’t forget your perfidy.

Sir, I think you doth protest too much!

“What does anybody have to do to get sacked for incompetence around here?” Battleheed, over at the Joyce lied thread, combined with this one you see how low the bar is.

Mike McKee your outrage is wanted at the Joyce lied thread.

I’d still love to see a followup on this one – as long as it’s unaddressed, I’ll have to assume Damien O’Connor stands behind the original post.

And I guess that’s the final word.
