Our polling always showed Brash as more unpopular than Hide. His negatives rub off on National as well. But can’t put it much better than No Minister. Pretty sure that Bill English will be saying ” I told you so” to Steven Joyce who was the referee for the Simon Lusk brains trust who initiated this mess.
Dr Brash marched into the ACT party board room and knocked them all for six with what now appears to be fictitious polling figures showing his personal following to be such that he would save the Party from itself and its heinous leader Rodney Hide. All they had to do was sack Rodney and install Don for the hallowed gates of Fiscal Policy to be thrown wide by an ever grateful John Key.
Boy oh boy, were they ever sold a pup! Perhaps the greatest political and tactical mess since Hitler invaded Soviet Russia.
Ironic thing is that since Rodney became a born-again champion of disabled kids and their education, he has found a new fan base.
Screw ups, like this by the looney right cheer me up on a miserable Auckland day no end !!
Now, if National will stand a credible candidate in Epsom. the fur will really fly.

Peter, chance would be a fine thing. Nothing would please me more than to see ACT lose Epsom to National and they only poll 4% and have a quick and painful demise. Well, maybe seeing John Key et al openly admitting they have messed things up, but I am not holding my breath on that.

National voters in Epsom, in my opinion will still vote ACT. We were called by this so-called poll.
It was very unprofessional. They purported to be doing a poll on the Epsom electorate and candidates for the up coming election. They asked one generic question, then they asked would you vote for Hide or Banks in Epsom. When my partner replied “I would rather poke my eyes out with a fork than vote for either” the person rang off.
Someone I know was offended the other day when I suggested I would eat my own faeces before I would ever vote National – your partner has just out did me!

“Aaron Bhatnagar” stirs up quite a lot of feeling amongst Nat supporters. From my observation they either love or hate him, and most Nat voters I meet in the Epsom electorate have little time for him.
Aaron Bhatnagar is a joke. In fact he seems to have more enemies than fiends, even in Epsom. He’s a dodgy fellow and I loathe the idea of seeing him in parliament.
It would be surprising if National would select anyone better than a 20 year old three legged dog to stand against Banks.
If I lived in Epson I would resent being asked to prostitute my vote for political expediency. Suckers!

I highly doubt there is a National candidate that could win Epsom. Whether you guys like it or not, Banks has alot of supporters out there, particularly with voters loyal to the ideas of the National party. I can tell you also that he has a strong number of Christian supporters also, these people also have alot of respect for him.
Banks also has the advantage of being a National man. Crickey JagMan is God a NACT supporter too?

Sadly your words do not enhance my view of the integrity of the voters in Epson. If they think like you say, then I am glad to not live there. Like gated communities really. Who would ever want to mix with people like that?
I find it deeply ironic that over at kiwiblog they are bemoaning the lack of further details from darren Hughes, yet have been quiet for some time now on why Richard Worth was sacked.

Its extraoridinary really when Brash denies in the Hollowman film that he knew anything about the exclusive Bretheren propoganda. Bare faced lying. Brash and the Act people like Keenan seemed to take even the Americans for granted. Its incredible when Keenan says in the Hager emails that the people who want F-16s and a real Air Force are idiots. Dosen’t he realise that sort of comment when it was first read in Toronto,Langley and Chapel Hill would make their hair stand on end. Even more incredibly when Dr Brash goes to Washington he says they didn’t discuss the nuclear and defence issues. Is Don such a cretin that he didn’t realise its all the USA cares about and if he didn’t raise it himself and spend the whole session discussuing how he was going to raise the New Zealand defence profile in the world they’d rather support Helen who gave them the SAS and Orion update and a free hand in Afghanistan.
Speculation continues as to who leaked the Hager emails inevitabily through a number of intermediatries. Was it English and the Brat pack or some foreign intelligence servie Canadian, US or Kiwi.
Whose going to enforce the Brash Banks demolition of the Wellington bureacracy and public service. An interesting question. Look at Greece.
