Maui Street is a great blog. Don’t always agree but Morgan has his finger on the pulse.

Here he outlines the Maori Party’s problems.

It’s a problem when you don’t have rabble like Minto, Bomber Bradbury and Sykes siding with you ?

The Mana party looks to be the party of the fruit loops, stirrers and academic asshats

  2. ehoa says:

If they want to get ahead of the Mana Party, all they have to do is plaster billboard pics of Titewhai Harawira….that’s scary enough!

  3. sweetd says:

Its a Horizon Poll, nuff said.

  4. don says:

Great to see National has selected a lesbian, Hone Harawira friendly (relative) Maori candidate (despite Maori being only 18% of Mangere versus 62% Pacific, 20% European) to stand in Mangere in the coming elections.

Has the National Party finally become more liberal and open minded at last?

  5. Trevor Mallard says:

    Not horizon sweetd

    Really, Mr Mallard?

“…The latest Horizon Poll puts Te Mana marginally ahead of the Maori Party a…”

People like Minto, Bradford, Mccarten and Sykes all have a contribution to make, and you dismiss them in this puerile way at your own peril.

The PM has “used the extreme right (ACT) in exactly this way, present an extremist and anything to the right or left of them seems moderate, without those voices your moderate looks extremist. In addition people we don’t like or agree with can actually have good ideas and proposals.

Poor Aldolf , doesnt know the difference between a nationwide poll and that in an electorate facing a by election.
heres a clue , Trevor says “3rd in Te Tai Tokerau”

  9. Trevor Mallard says:

And I repeat that I was not relying on horizon polling .

  10. sweetd says:

Trevor, which poll are you refering to, if it is not the Horrizon Poll Street alluded to in the Maui blog?

  11. paul says:

I agree with Tracey – dismiss them at your peril. All those mentioned have their place, and at the very least will bring some long awaited advocacy for those whose voice is marginalized. Too often those toward the center – left or right – trade off in order to reach a middle ground – and that means those who need it most miss out again.

And if at the end of the day, these activists get the average kiwi off its butt and out examining the real issues – well – good for them. I wish them luck – and for all that Hone is a loose cannon – at least he has the kahunas to stand for what he believes in – the sell out of constituents by other MPs has been disgraceful.

Sweetd polling i see but you don’t. Pretty clear the by-election will be referendum on Hone, that a significant majority of Maori Party supporters have gone with Hone but that Kelvin is within reach because some of the stuff that Hone has done has pushed people back to Labour.

Kelvin is seen as the candidate of the future rather than one constantly looking in the rear vision mirror.
