McCully is apparently Rugby World Cup Minister, when TVNZ calls him former they might be premature.
He choppered into Tui territory to kick off a Super Rugby preseason match, his pathetic place kick went nowhere.
But he obviously lives so far in the past that he doesn’t know that we do drop kicks to start rugby games now.
Bit of a worry.
Keep him away from the All Blacks just in case he tries to pass his wisdom on to them.
Thats what happens when you have a level playing field, some McCully knows nothing about
But his kick DID go the distance. So call it what you will – at least he got over the line – unlike your billion dollar tax payer funded white elephant you wanted to build for the RWC.
Being able to kick a rugby ball is not a requirement of being the Rugby World Cup minister, surely? Besides, he looks a lot more like a front rower than a back, so shouldn’t be expected to know how to kick it.
Also, a drop kick isn’t that easy (although there are a few in Parliament)
Actually, viewing the video, it appears to have gone 10 metres, so what’s the issue?
If he was a round ball footballer, he’d be a left back… left back in the dressing room.
I just actually thought up something positive about McCully being our Rugby World Cup Minister.
The World Cup is still being held in New Zealand, and no-one has been threatened with bodily harm. Small things, but they do count haha.
Funny how Kiwis stranded in Egypt are told to ‘jump in the Nile’ by McCully but he managers to have a helicopter land him in a rugby field. Good to know what his priorities are !
Infantile stuff chaps
when will politicians learn? very few can carry off this sort of stunt – the fact he is so clearly not a sportsman doesn’t help either.
This is infantile ad hominem nonsense.
This would be the perfect opportunity to remind Mr. Mallard of his “shocker” when it came to comments relating to the 2003 world cup.
However, I will concur with Plutonian and Dave and consider this infantile. Playing the man not the ball would also be an apt comment.
McCully ball not man – yeah right.
The post is tagged ‘humour’, for those who seem to have missed that.
Yes its very funny we have a John Cleese type as the RWC minister.
Think of all the botch ups hes had since taking the job.
McCully truly is a vile little man.
The next statement applies to both left and right wing.
when i played if you had and opportunity to accidentaly put a bad ref into a mauul that turned into a ruck by accident and then accidentaly ruck him you had to take it.
here we have a politician on the field, what an opportunity missed.
in regards to the kick, mccully has the build and the kicking abillity of a front rower, shame he doesnt have the brains to be in the front row.
Only today I heard John Key say that there are a lot of external factors impacting our economy which our Govt can’t control (which is correct of course) which makes a lie of those who claim Labour caused our current economic malaise Crikey we might BE Greece if we hadnt all that surplus from the prudent captancy by Cullen.
He also said the World Cup will provide a decent boost to the economy. In fact he seems to be regarding it almost like his job summit in 2009 as a panacea to all employment woes, I cant find the posts thanking our Former PM for the insight and foresight of behind getting the NZRU and getting the Cup here, but will wait patiently for credit where it is due.
