Have a look at this and tell me you are not affected by it. Not a smuggled video, not a clandestine cobbled together job, just a simple, direct address which clearly and carefully asks for support and friendship. Amazing.

That speech is inspiring, a great lady.
!
Thanks for the video Maryan
Greatness lies where the great are humble and people like Suu Kyi, Mandela, Mother Theresa and Ghandi all mark this path for the rest of us with shining brilliance and a message of hope.
G-d bless them all.
Please remind me again – what sanctions did the previous Labour Government impose on Burma when this lady was placed under house arrest and Monks were persecuted.
Oh thats right – none as I recall.
The situation in Burma is so sad. I heard a speech by a documentary maker and aid worker in the Thailand/Burma area. Hard to imagine of the horror the Government is imposing on the innocent citizens. Good to see children being rescued and being given an education and assisting the healing process.
@pdm – The Labour-led government supported international sanctions against Burma. We don’t export arms, so we couldn’t withold those and we don’t import rubies and other gems, so we couldn’t shut that down either. We did a total 2-way trade with Burma of $8million last time I looked – $7m exporting to them and $1m back this way. These transactions were obligations held with all LDCs (Least Developed Countries) under international WTO provisions. We observe the same obligations with Laos as well, fyi. Where does that practised, cheap shot cynicism come from pdm?
