I know there’s a bunch of MPs who’ve spent time at Pike River over the last week and a bit. All of them, from across the political spectrum, have done their best to contribute in whatever way they could to the immense tragedy. This post applies to all of them.
I just want to acknowledge three colleagues; Damien O’Connor who dropped everything and headed to Greymouth on the Friday evening of the mine accident. The West Coast is his patch. And I can’t imagine what the last week has been like for him.
And Rick Barker. We spent last Saturday together in Mana during the by-election. I know his mind and heart was on the West Coast and he headed there the next day. Rick grew up on the Coast.
And of course Phil Goff. He’s been there as much as could be this week. To be honest nothing else really mattered.
They are among the ones who’ve seen first hand the effect this tragedy has had on the people affected. Think they need support too.
Damien, Rich and Phil are legends.!
I wish them better times and for nosey creeps to keep out of their faces!
Their sincerity speaks volumes about their character and genuine commitment to the people of the west coast.
No fake tears when moving motions in the house needed by them to show they care.
I know, but it seems strange writing about them in this manner. They are to be commended, but maybe they might like their privacy.
And let us not even go near the speech the pm gave after the third explosion
Al1ens, a gracious word from you occasionally would be appreciated. You have no need to be vindictive and nasty ALL the time. Or do you?
Hi Rich
If you don’t like my opinions, then just ignore them. I won’t mind.
As for gracious, I usually am, quite alot infact, but rarely ever about tories and their blow hard supporters.
Like I mentioned to you on a previous occasion when you used the same sad excuse for a point, as a sad point scoring exercise – This is a Labour party blog that invites opinion. I give mine, end of.
If I overstep the mark, I’m sure the moderators will let me know. Until them, as the locals would say, I’m gold.
You can of course always post on a right leaning blog where the cracks in the party are papered over and you probably won’t find much criticism of your nat party heroes. Again, I won’t mind.
Good luck with that, aye.
@Al1ens
What sort of speech would you propose that the Prime Minister of NZ should give at such a time.
Any idea why my comments are not allowed. i know of no transgressions.
“What sort of speech would you propose that the Prime Minister of NZ should give at such a time.”
A better one than he did. How’s that?
delete my post on this thread please. Thank you.
“Any idea why my comments are not allowed. i know of no transgressions.”
Stop whining. One of mine is in moderation too. It’s no biggie.
Show some stiff upper lip, that man.
NZ Herald’s reporting a 4th explosion at the mine. I wonder how Key’s speech this time is going to go.
I appreciate the time Labour MPs have spent in supporting the community on the Coast
I while I wasn’t born there all my family back to 1850s were and of course you could say the Labour Party was ‘born’ there as well.
“Forever Young”
Why do Labour dissenters think they are the only ones who ever have posts thrown into moderation. Just about every second post of mine spends time in moderation.
I just assume some word or phrase has triggered it, or they hate me, and if it’s the latter I cry myself to sleep.
I can relate to being hated,
, I think I’m in Trev’s okay books ATM though
!
Did Phil manage to get some good photo opportunities ?
Sure he got on camera, but the dude really was there to assist people. I’m sure he and his colleagues would rather have not had the disaster or the photo ops. I could make the same argument about Key, but I know the dude had to be there too.
That moderation thingimy don’t like me much neither. I don’t think it likes long words. Must think they’re swear words.
Kinda funny considering that most swear words are about four letters long
There, there, Tracey. It will all be OK. We love you. (I think)
Aw, Rich,
, I love you Tracey
LOLOLOLOL – fortunately I’m not as fragile or sensitive as some who have to write in their posts ( I KNOW this will be deleted because blah blah blah)
Love you boys too
Tracey loves me!
Al1ens, I feel sorry for you. Must be hard to be so negative.
Richard the First – it’s laugh out loud on Red Alert day.
Don’t forget to laugh!

OK Spud, LOL LOL ha ha ha ha. Hey, I’m always a happy person!
Brilliant my good man!
LOL

As Red Alert is the official Labour blogsite, it seems reasonable to me, for the admin to take care with what is published. I am sure that the use of some people’s names deserve checking, and certain contributors need watching as they can be pretty spiteful, and certain “bad” language should be avoided. It would not be a good look for a charge of libel to hit here.
Whereas other blogs have less to lose so can be a bit more lenient. Getting the balance right here is a tribute when you read the other wooden political blogs.

If you read my post, you’d have seen the bit about tories and their blow hard devotees.
I find being negative about you losers comes with ease
