John Chapman print on trademe – proceeds to go towards Mana bi-election
Posted by Carmel Sepuloni on November 11th, 2010
John Chapman is a staunch Labour supporter and is one of our good friends in Waitakere:)
Given his support for Labour and generous nature, he’s kindly put up one of his prints for sale on trademe – proceeds raised will go towards the Mana campaign.
The print is entitled ‘It’s only going to get worse’ – how appropriate given the state of our country under the current National Government. We may have to persevere another year (or slightly less) of a National Government but that gentle reminder of how much worse it could get if we have to endure any longer than that – is a great motivator for getting Labour people and the generally ‘disillusioned with National’ ordinary kiwi, enthused about the next election!
This is a limited edition print taken by American photojournalist John Chapman. The print was exhibited as part of ‘The English’ exhibition at the Upstairs Gallery in Titirangi. http://www.fotografie.co.nz/the_english/index.html
The print is offered unframed and is printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Museum Etching acid free archival paper numbered and signed by the photographer to a limited number of 25. The image was taken near Green Park in London during the 1990’s. The print is offered for sale on the condition that it is not reproduced or copied in any way and that copyright is held by the photographer.
John Chapman is an American photojournalist who spent much of his working life in the UK and Middle East. His work has been widely published in the United States and Europe. Now living in New Zealand he is currently exhibiting at the West Coast Gallery in Piha. http://www.acknowledgingwaitakere.co.nz/index.html
The listing number is 329811210

That’s great Carmel!
!
Do you mean by-election?
“Do you mean by-election?”
There’s a difference all right, and I think I know what it is. But this is a Labour blog!
I am pleased he definitely signed the art / photo work and it is a John chapman original. I seethe bidding is now at $250. Is that the best Labour supporters can come with?
As the money is going to labour I could not possibly support the bidding even if I loved the piece (which is so appropriate if labour got back into government).
I suppose it’s better than a buy (bought) election
Does that make John Chapman an American `Bag Man’ for Labour?
So it did not sell at auction – not even for a miserable $250. Has even the cash rich unions now deserted Labour?
What a joke. Maybe you should have got someone to put their signature to it afterall – maybe then it would have raised $5000?
Monty, I’m getting to the point of telling you where to go. You are simply too predictably a tory plant who is trolling. If you haven’t got something to say that adds value, criticism or not, then don’t bother. So this is a warning. Clare
Fair point Clare. Normally I do try and stick to the point of the post. This has been a bit of a strange week for me, but I honestly do find this subject too inviting and the irony is beyond belief for a rightie. Like I thought repeater Coleman was also worth laughing at.
Back to business as usual tomorrow and deconstructing the posts that Labour put up. But can you not see that this particular issue is very ironic and worth a punt at labour’s expense given which side of the political divide I sit on?
Back to business as usual = whining about how wonderful Key et al with pompous, uniformed rhetoric; I can hardly wait…..
Was this a picture of a Labour operative in Australia digging for dirt on John Key.
Little did they know it was “It’s Going to Get Worse”
Well that went well didn’t it!
Seems that there are less ” Labour people and the generally ‘disillusioned with National’ ordinary kiwi” than you thought.
Still – it does reflect the poll results.
Regardless – was a nice offer by Chapman.
The market has spoken on the value of having a Labour MP. I’m afraid the news isn’t at all good for you lefties. LOL
Well I think it’s cool! Maybe it would have got more bids if we all weren’t already struggling with the cost of living – thanks National!
I wonder if he actually did the original or like Chairman Helen, just (accidentally) signed it as his own? @Sthesis, maybe it would have got more bids if it wasn’t marketed as a “fundraiser for Labour?” You should have labelled it “The wrapper John Keys cast came in”, if you wanted success.
@Sthesis
You cant blame National for what YOU earn. If you want more money, work harder, study more to get a better pay. Stop blaming others and take some responsibility.
