Just wondering but shouldn’t the MP for Mana consider themselves polynesian?

“It’s really weird” says Jason. “We don’t look like white people, but we are so-o-o-o not Tokelaun it’s not funny.” Kris adds “It’s just the box that we ticked when they gave us the census.”

  2. Jan Logie is looking like a much better option :)

I saw a doco on the Fa’afois when they went home to their island and Kris felt out of place. I guess it’s fair enough if he’s used to being a kiwi and not living in the islands then he will be different from his relatives. Just like a NZ born Chinese whose parents sound and behave differently is going to grow up Kiwi. :-D

My point being Spud is he the best candidate for the position?

  5. Spud says:

Yes, he’s smart and Labour :-D

Hi, I’m both a Labour supporter and a Mana voter (what more could you want ?!!!). I’m currently in the middle of doing some number-crunching from the 2008 Mana results (both Party and Electorate vote). Looking at the Party and Electorate votes (and the relationship between them) at every level from the (1) Electorate-wide result, to (2) the various sub-regions within the electorate (groups of suburbs geographically-contiguous and politically similar), and on down to (3) each separate suburb.

Out of this informal analysis, I’m developing some recommendations in terms of Labour’s possible campaign strategy. Should be finished by this coming weekend. Just wondered if you’d be interested ? If so, I could give you an outline (of both the stats and the recommendations) in the Comments section of this (or a later) thread ?

Markus could you email to me trevor.mallard@parliament.govt or grant.robertson@parliament.govt.nz or pete.hodgson@parliament.govt.nz Trevor

the electorate has the final say.

  10. Richard the First says:

Spud, what’s all this going on about not having daylight saving time. Where are you? The rest of us have been on DST now for over a week.

  11. Sean says:

Looking forward to November 20, never done a by-election before, so voting for Kris will be double fun.

Deleted. You are warned. This is trolling. Clare

    CV excellent point :-D

    @Rich LOL :-D

  14. Okesene7 says:

Well too late now but as a loyal labour supporter in Porirua East, why didnt you nominate someone for the Mana seat who grew up and works here? Like Caroline Mareko, Henry Smith or Maria Uluilelata??

  15. Spud says:

Faafoi is a good boy, he will do a good job, why not see how the dude goes? 8O

  16. Okesene7 says:

Spud, who wants good when you can have excellence? You and the powers at be miss the point. Mana’s a safe labour seat instead of investing in it’s locals and acknowledging their contribution they say, Phil’s safe boy can do the job. Patronising.

  17. Spud says:

Faafoi is a Mana boy and he’ll be great, you’ll see, Mana will be happy :-D !
