  2. steelykc says:

good stuff Clare. I hope people are sitting up and thinking.

  3. A Mother says:

I am watching, or listening at least.

  4. Dylan says:

considering we are ranked the least corrupt country in the world by transparency international I would have thought we had open government sussed

  5. steelykc says:

Open Government is not secret, its accessable and most importantly,it can be understood in ordinary language

  6. John W says:

I look for long term vision of what NZ will need to do in coping with the predicted future trends and events.

Expansion of economic solutions in a finite world just doesn’t cut the cake.

Limits are looming and issues such as population, energy, water, infrastructure that is sustainable are all but ignored.

There is no credibility in “economic growth” providing answers.

Massive social costs are not new when collapses occur.

Privatising the profits and socialise the costs is the course we are running at present.
Where to – more of the same? A bankers delight.

We have an ideal situation in NZ to withstand long term challenges but instead are giving away our sovereignty, attempting to boost our population to create wealth for a very small sector who will carry no responsibility when times change as a result of their policies.

Labour has not showed its hand in this arena. Does it contemplate changes to address future need or is it frightened of scaring off the ignorant voter and arrogant capitalist extremists.

Long term power generation and ownership is an obvious one where the private sector will fail. Bail them out or take them over. A no brainer if you look at the energy forcasts.

Or has Labour been taken over like it was in the 80s with extreme right wing moles amid fluffy consensus speak. Are we still relying on trickle down nonsense.

Followed much of this on the pop up between doing other stuff. I like this process as you can listen and/or comment or make a cup of tea, or do the housework, and not have to worry about the parking meter. I think select committees and question time should try this system with live tweeting from the NZ public displayed on large screens.

  8. Dylan says:

‘Privatising the profits and socialise the costs is the course we are running at present.’

That sums it up pretty well John. Labour should be thinking about making state profits if they want to pay for state costs for state services. Getting buried deeper into debt or cutting back on services are the undesireable alternatives.

8O wow I missed a thread, Goff’s speech would have been good. Yee haa! :-D
