Red Alert

Mapp into deep cover

Posted by Trevor Mallard on August 20th, 2010

Wayne Mapp was meant to open Innovation Expo @ Weltec this morning. He is a no show. Gone into hiding to avoid telling media Heather Roy is truthful. Pity.

stranger than fiction – all of this.

  2. Anne says:

What a wimp! Gordon Campbell’s Scoop blog is worth a look. He pulls no punches on what he thinks about the way Roy has been treated, and it isn’t pretty reading. A brilliant resume of events in my view.

  3. Richard says:

“Gone into hiding” Trevor? The Herald says he is in Afghanistan.

  4. Spud says:

    He he he :-D

  5. Armchair Critic says:

Richard – He’s in good company then, hiding in Afghanistan. If he’s really good at hiding he might not be found for ten years, even with a whole army looking for him.
The whole thing about not wanting to answer questions seems to be catching amongst National’s ministers. I seem to recall it start with Messrs Key and Brownlee.

  6. Anne says:

Well, if it’s true Richard then he couldn’t have gone to a more appropriate hiding place.:D

  7. Loota says:

Ha a golden window of opportunity for Hide and co. to say anything they like about what Mapp may or may not have said.

What is Roy’s next move going to be?

  8. Anne says:

“Roy now owes it to the saner members of the public who voted for her party to explain the reasons for her dumping. Silence only perpetuates the Stalinist aura surrounding around these events. She has done nothing wrong – and she would be doing a great deal that is right by speaking up.”

That is what Gordon Campbell thinks she should do, and I agree with him.

  9. Is he in Afghanistan..?

If so between this and Darien Fenton’s “ommission” that a 90 day victim was in fact a Labour member it might be time for a blog name change…

    Red Face Alert..?

  10. Spud says:

I didn’t see Darien saying she was or she wasn’t! That worker is an ordinary human being who was shafted! :-(

  11. bbfloyd says:

jeremy,, have you been taking your silly pills again?.. that last post wasn’t worthy of your normal contributions.

  12. Gary Jones says:

Brilliant new standards from the Key Administration – a step change to accountability and integrity!

  13. BLiP says:

What a pity Question Time was stuffed up yesterday. Why on Earth fire all of your guns at once? Why not ask:

What allegations of drug use has the Minister of Defence heard in relation to the Associate Minister of Defence?

Naming Hide in the question provided just the opening Rortney needed to shut the discussion down with his Personal Statement. What now, Labour?

  14. Trevor Mallard says:

    Just you wait BLiP

  15. gitmo says:

    Yes BLiP

Just you wait if you thing yesterday was a stuff up you’ll likely view their next effort is likely to catastrophic.

  16. jennifer says:

Q time was a stuff up. But primarily because Lockjaw sees his job as protecting the government. Bit like the ref being an All Black on Saturday.

  17. ghostwhowalksnz says:

Jeremy, he may well have been going to Afghanistan very soon , but sounds like he has ‘left early’.
Why else would he drop a scheduled visit here at such short notice
Bamian is just such a lovely place to visit you cant wait to get back there.

More likely hes waiting a few extra days in Australia’s winterless north before donning the all over body armour

  18. BLiP says:

    Just you wait BLiP

Since its you, I’ll take your word and shut up. I’m going to assume its all part of a cunning plan and the Personal Statement was a part of its design and will result on Rortney’s head on a plate – sooner rather than later, thank you very much.

In the meantime, perhaps you’d like to reveal the machinations which have resulted in your elevation to Lockie’s pet. What’s going on there, eh? Gerry looked most perturbed.

    ; )

  19. Anne says:

One of the Nat MPs got away with a vicious, unparliamentary retort yesterday (calling the Labour opposition sewer-rats) because David Parker named the wrong culprit – Sandra Goudie instead of the real culprit, Judith Collins. I hope he, and other opposition members, get it right next time. Mind you, Im getting sick of the Speaker getting out from under by being “hard of hearing”. Why doesn’t he wear a hearing-aid so that he can hear what is being said? What annoyed me was the way he laid into Clayton Cosgrove when Cosgrove tried to correct Parker’s error. In my view that was blatant partisanship and worthy of a complaint by Labour. Yes I know both sides noisy at the time, but that was no excuse for Collins being allowed to get away with it.

  20. Trevor Mallard says:

Just to complicate matters I thought it was Amy Adams. She sounds more like Goudie than Collins does. And BLiP the Speaker and I have interesting discussions on Standing Orders and I think there is an element of mutual respect.

  21. Anne says:

@ Trevor. It was reported on one on-line site (can’t rememeber which one) that Collins was seen to indicate to her colleagues that it was she who had said it. Perhaps that wasn’t quite correct either. Whatever, it was highly offensive and it looked bad watching Smith take it out on a member of the Opposition.

According to photos on a wesbite from the US Combined Joint Task Force 82 with headquarters at Bagram Air Base Wayne Mapp and Lt. Gen. Jeremiah “Jerry” Mateparae, are visiting soldiers at Kiwi Base in Bamyan Aug 20.
