Just been sent this. From Computerworld. It shows the effect of delay and uncertainty, confusion and secrecy. It’s affecting our economy now.
FX Networks has posted a reduced profit for the March 31 2010 year. This, says managing director Murray Jurgeleit, is largely due to a pause in buying by dark fibre customers because of lack of clarity in government plans for ultra fast broadband, as well as the rural broadband initiative.
Steven Joyce needs to show some of his cards and let there be a public discussion and debate about what happens to Telecom rather than letting its negotiating tactics dominate the decision around a vital piece of national infrastructure.
The tables are starting to turn on Joyce, he’s finally starting to get some heat in Transport and now he is showing his incompetence in TelComs, his blind hard right wing ideology is pouch screwing higher education…
Apart from regulating mobile termination rates, so far, history is likely to judge him as a very poor minister (Think Big but without any legacy benefits)…
In fact Labour should refer to him as “Think Big” Joyce…
not a bad handle jeremy… better than “quitter collins”. but what advantage is there for joyce in laying down the busted flush he’s holding?
these guys are starting to look like they’ve started to believe their own press clippings.
*pooch screwing
I’m not against the broadband rollout but will be if it’s dome poorly…
When was the last time one of an incoming government’s top few campaign promises doesn’t even look like BEGINNING before the next election, by the time they get started Telecom will have FTTB (at least in Auckland)…
@JMH: did you mean, “Prostetnic Vogon Joyce”?
