:o Whoa! What did she do to annoy Rodney?

  2. @Spud, tried to overthrow him – backed by Douglas, sadly Boscawen and Garrett are wimps…

  3. I think it was late last year Spud, would have been great… Hideney would have lost Epsom if National put someone half decent in and then no more ACT…

  4. Nicola Wood says:

Does having a female in a powerful position make them feel uncomfortable or something?

  5. ghostwhowalksnz says:

Boscowan is the only one in the ACT caucus with any real personal wealth.

Is it another version of No Brash No cash?.

To become deputy ?!#. Oh the ambition of it all

  6. Whaleoil says:

John Boscawen better have destroyed his documents or he could well be in the dock or at least being interviewed by Police and SIS.

He should also be aware his black book will get an outing.

Rodney is ill-advised in orchestrating this in my opinion.

Some staff are likely to go down as well.

  7. Anne says:

“Boscowan is the only one in the ACT caucus with any real personal wealth.

Is it another version of No Brash No cash?.”

Part of the reason. From the time of Act’s conception back in the mid 90s Boscawen has run Act’s campaign for finanacial support. Act (under Boscawen’s guidance) were the first political party to rort the electoral system in their favour – see The Hollow Men. The irony of that rort and Boscawen’s campaign against Labour’s attempt to reform the Electoral Act still rankles with me. The MSM never even squeaked.

Another consideration is: Boscawen is the parliamentary face of the latest Climate Change Coalition’s attempt to discredit NIWA through the courts. I suspect this is Act’s
big publicity stunt for the 2011 election campaign.

Heather Roy is the stumbling block? She’s intelligent. Need I say more?

  8. Anne says:

Damm it. Where is that edit function we’ve been promised?

  9. Sofie says:

It’s another boys club. Also, I think an edit function would be great if for nothing else but spelling lessons.:)

  10. Anne says:

“I think an edit function would be great if for nothing else but spelling lessons.:)”

Thanks for your support Sofie. Also helps when you’ve made a Freudian slip. :)

  11. Anasazi says:

Anything that helps with the downfall of ACT is OK by me !

  12. gitmo says:

You shouldn’t believe everything balanced deleted Trevor

  13. mickysavage says:

Hide is making a big mistake here. He better hope that Roy hasn’t got any dirt on him that could cost him in election year. A woman scorned and all that.

  14. WEETACKER says:

    Whaleoil

You are right on the money as usual dude. Trev’s source will be Brian Nicolle of course. He works for Hide when he is not working for John Banks campaign with Chris Diack. Oops, is that not that a conflict of interest?

Sounds like Hide trying to kill off another valuable party member showing him up for what he really is in reality.

Someone else who knows where the bodies are buried? The trouble for Hide is that there is no justification for axing Roy whatsoever, nothing but his own psychotic insecurity. Its a real dumb move. Good luck to the Act board if they swallow that one from Hide.

Hide should know by now, there are too many bodies and they are not all covered in dirt. some are coming to life and they will haunt him in his sleep. What will turn up next I wonder?

  15. Radman says:

From what I’m hearing the comment by Weetacker is so wide of the mark it is not funny. At least get one fact right before you defame people all over the internet. Disgusting.

  16. mickysavage says:

    Weetacker,

Interesting thought. I’m willing to bet Roy know where plenty of bodies are buried. In fact, I bet she knows about a lot more of Hides indiscretions that Hide has kept hidden from the media. IF she does get the sack tomorrow you can bet she won’t be high on the list next year and then she really has nothing to lose….

  17. Policy Parrot says:

    “downfall of ACT”

Ok, whose gonna do that one?

  18. Hilary says:

Many of us are waiting for Heather Roy’s Special Education Review to emerge from cabinet. What might happen to her role of Assoc Min of Ed?

  19. Nick C says:

“Does having a female in a powerful position make them feel uncomfortable or something?”

Yes Nicola im sure thats it. Im sure after having Heather Roy as party Deputy Leader for 5 years and Minister for nearly two the Act Party have now suddenly desided that they dont like women and are going to sack her. Sounds like the most plausable explanation to me…

  20. Paul says:

This is an unsubstantiated allegation. You are warned. Clare

  21. DeepRed says:

@Nicola: “Does having a female in a powerful position make them feel uncomfortable or something?”

I know that it was, and probably still is, the case for a certain fundy we all know and love.

  22. Clint Heine says:

Allegations allegations my dear Red Alert readers. Trev knows why Heather is being possibly demoted and it has nothing to do with sexism, money or anything remotely close to it. Trev is just stirring… rather well I might add :)

  23. marybellows says:

    Policy Parrot says:
    ““downfall of ACT”

Ok, whose gonna do that one?”

Hmm, may be a bit close to the bone with the Act Party.

  24. Clint says:

Oi oi, I was being rather polite Clare/Trev. No name calling or anything, why you delete my post?

As I said before, Heather “possibly” going has nothing to do with money or her sex. And if she goes it will be for reasons that will come out eventually – if they do :)

  25. Hilary says:

I’m not known for praising right wing cabinet ministers, but Heather Roy’s engagement with the sector in the special education review and her apparent understanding of the complex issues involved, in her role as Assoc Min of Ed, is certainly superior to some others.

  26. Cnr Joe says:

ACT feeling a little ignored? A little left out? Need some attention?
Heather seems like a real person so bumping her off just leaves them even more like a party of zombies.

  27. Hilary says:

Just to clarify my assessment above. Minister Roy is a more effective minister than many other current ministers (not talking about former ministers).

  28. Julie says:

Don’t you find it weird though Hilary how the Special Education review is completely ignoring the role of early childhood education? That would seem to be making the whole exercise less effective to me, but I don’t know all that much about the Special Education part of the sector so would appreciate your views as someone who knows heaps.

  29. Hilary says:

Yes that is strange. But I suppose this is about the compulsory sector which is governed by section 8 of 1989 Education Act which guarantees that all children aged 5-19 can go to their local school. There was a good Insight programme on Radio NZ last Sunday morning, which hinted at the complexities and conflicting views on special ed. Personally, I hate the whole label of ’special’ as in our current environment it actually means problematic, resource intensive and pathologises individual children. Schools (and pre schools) should be inclusive to all children, whoever they are. (But I doubt the review tackles terminology.)

  30. ghostwhowalksnz says:

Will Boscowen be under the 90 day trial for his new job?

    Whats good for the goose….

All though the last time a deputy leader didnt make it past 2 weeks was Nick Smith

  31. mickysavage says:

According to Stuff, if Roy is removed as deputy, the PM is going to take away her ministerial warrant. Now if she is an effective minister (which it seems she is) why take that away? More to the point who is Key going to give those jobs to? Boscawen? Can you imagine Tolley and Boscawen in charge of education? LMAO

  32. Sean says:

I hope they explain to Heather Roy why she is being sacked.

    It’s only fair.

  33. A Mother says:

Yes her dedication to special education is great. Don’t agree with all her suggestions but even putting on her web-page, something that puts into question the National standards when it comes to gifted education (which falls under special education) was a bold move.

  34. ghostwhowalksnz says:

They dont need a reason to sack her ( I would call it ‘lese majeste’.)
maybe she will ‘resign’ to spare Key the ignomy of sacking her.

  35. Hilary says:

You could look at this in a Machiavellian way and see a NACT plot to remove both her and the pesky Special Ed Review, which is currently stuck in Cabinet. The review may be bolder than the government can cope with.

  36. Linda says:

She did have some less than supportive things to say about National Standards and has made good sense on several issues so I can see why Hon Anne Tolley might prefer her removal from Education.

  37. Spud says:

She was probably the saving grace for education when it came to NACT :-( Oh well, T :-( L L Y’S reign of terror will continue :-(

  38. Hilary says:

Well Rodney Hide is now Minister of Special Education. Back to square one.

  39. Spud says:

    8O – Oh dear god :-(

  40. A Mother says:

    @Linda.
That is the first thing that came to my mind too.

  41. lamingtonian says:

Yes, Rodney’s dirt about to be dusted. And Boscawen unplugged.

And what with Winston understandably wanting to shove a pitchfork up Rodney’s ass, this is looking to be an entertaining election campaign. Oh dear. Poor Catherine will have to have Matthew on every bloody morning next to lend her ideological support.

  42. Tigger says:

    Armstrong is not impressed.
    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10666758

No suprises as to how dense ACT is being over this. It’s the way of right wing parties. We’re still waiting for a reason as to why Worth was bumped from Parliament after all…

  43. BLiP says:

Tell me, did they have tea and lamingtons at the press conference?

  44. Anne says:

That old cliche comes into play here.

“Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”.

That’s the bottom line in this saga.

Today’s session on Radio NZ ‘the Panel’ featured Stephen Franks. If someone with the tech. savvy can create a link, it’s well worth a listen. It seems the claim that Roy has been bad mouthing Hide and trying to organise another coup against him (and I paraphrase) is apparently poppycock. She’s been doing nothing of the sort. Interesting.

  45. Tracey says:

    I heard that too Anne.

Interesting that not being deputy means no cabinet post… mind you didnt JK say Hide goes over his dead body, or something like that?

I understood Rodney’s money was only as a result of alan Gibbs money, is that nolonger the case?

  46. Clint says:

There is a lot of other stuff going on and despite people here thinking otherwise, it has nothing to do with the party money, her sex or anything petty.

  47. Was she caught drinking vials of blood in her Parliamentary office..?

    Graffitting the Parliamentary bathrooms..?

Did she take JK’s limo for a joyride..?

I think I have the right to know…
