A question of priorities

Posted by Chris Hipkins on August 3rd, 2010

John Key may not have a plan to catch up with Australia. Gerry Brownlee may not have a plan to achieve the government’s supposed goal of having 90% of our electricity generated from renewable sources. Bill English may not have a plan to pay for the looming baby boomer retirement. Paula Bennett may have no plan for reducing the number of people on benefits. Judith Collins may have no plan to reduce the rate of violent crime in New Zealand… BUT … John Key does have a plan to make himself sound more important. Not content to be merely honourable, he is henceforth to be referred to as the “Right Honourable Prime Minister”. Good to know they’ve got such a clear set of priorities…

Well, that would mean Clare and Osama have something in common then.

  2. Loota says:

All we need now is for Simon to start asking questions about Clare’s nationality, birth certificate and wondering aloud if her middle name is “Hussein”.

Is this really what you are sinking to.

  3. Tracey says:

it would mean if you are descended from an American you could be called a terrorist by association or a supporter thereof.

  4. Simon says:

Don’t be silly. Just wondering how Clare’s heritage fits with Chris’ post or above comments?

  5. Tracey says:

Nice try Simon but your comment at 9.29am suggests something quite different from your claim that you merely wonder how Clare’s heritage relates to Chris’ post

Thanks Tracey, merely in reply to your comment. One fundamental difference between Clare and Sinn Fein is that Clare has pledged allegiance to the crown, Sinn Fein’s MPs haven’t and won’t.

Having read all this rubbish I wonder how the Labour Party manage to get to even 30% in the polls.
Actually if you want conspiracy theories like those promulgated here about John Key arranging to have himself appointed I have it on good authority that Helen Clark, having failed in her desire to be the first New Zealand woman Prime Minister decided to try and ensure that she was the last one to be a Right Honorable. Thus she cut off the connection to the Privy Council.
The good authority is the cleaner’s assistant who tidied up an apartment inhabited by the hairdresser to the former minister for ministerial affairs.
There is at least as much sense in this as in the paranoid ravings in this Blog entry.
As for the tripe written here about people being “forced” to take the honorific We have your former leader, who claims to oppose the Privy Council being “forced” to become one herself.
