Why Labour can win

Posted by Trevor Mallard on August 1st, 2010

I got confirmed as Labour’s candidate for Hutt South last weekend.

It is a pretty open secret that I don’t like opposition and that I considered retiring.  I  decided that we could win and that while the 2008 intake is brilliant they could do with a few more experienced  hands helping them Phil and Annette in government.

It is going to be an uphill battle, but it may well be that the events of last week galvanise the caucus and the party in the same way as the failed May 96 coup did for the Clark led Labour Party.

Mike Smith on the Standard has a good post today:-

Chris Carter is wrong. Labour can win the next election led by Phil Goff. The objective conditions make it possible, and there is enough time. That’s true even if Key calls an early election to gain the financial benefits of National’s new electoral law, as some have predicted on this site.

I’m sorry but until I see some independent and unbiased news I’m not going to be jumping up for a read.

There is something to be learned from the crash of 87 and the most recession crash… we will repeat if we dont change. The kind of “change” National is bringing in was the change that led to the 87 crash.

Well, I’d like to see some plan/s, some concrete stuff going on. It’s all very well pointing to polls, but what actually is happening?

    More jobs? No
    closing gap on australia? no
More money for prisons because of increase in sentences? Yes
education standards to identify issues not actually addressing known issues

I hope most of NZ can see through that smurk of john key and vote Phill Goff and labour .

I see no Future for my son in national..
National have cut 1 thing , my work hours.
My boss had 2 lay alot of staff off and i was lucky not 2 be one of them , but because of john keys stupid idea’s my boss had 2 cut our hours also because he was brainwashed by john keys ideas.

    I tell ya something , i aint.
John key has Raised just about everything there is except our hourly rate and work hours and they are the most important things.

John key raised price of food so how is that fair
John key also raised the price of rego’s for motor vehicals

John key also cuts our jobs and work hours and raises our food..
Basicly i cant see the logic…

How is my son going 2 like the fact that John key raises the price on food and then cuts my hours from work … my son then will wonder ( why are we hungry )

John key also thinks we are lazy for going to work and income because we cant afford 2 live our usal day 2 day life.

And john key said he wud increase work … lol wotta joke (NotFunny) theres been records of unnemployment since john keys been at the stand.

The only thing john key does is promise fast internet lol , man what the hell…. who cares about fast internet its already fast enough , and my online game still lags so he hasnt even conquerd that.

Someone mentioned the crash of 87 , i remember i was young but still remember and i see it all over again . national are just 2 good at that…

What i dont get is i see on tv news the presenters say ( national are leading the favourite polls )
I would like 2 see where they get the polls from because i wanna know if they know about me and about 40 of my mates that are voting PHILL GOFF all the way back into the drivers seat because ive already had enough of John key smart attitude and crazy idea’s .

If john key could , he would sell us all 1 by 1 .
So many promices but no results …
So many cuts and increased TAX

John key is full of it , he hasnt fixed anything ….

    It’s worse

    Hurry up election time!
