Red Alert

We don’t need your education

Posted by Brendon Burns on July 6th, 2010

National standards for education – and proof-reading – are slipping. Rangitata’s Nat MP Jo Goodhew has sent out a survey asking : What issues are most important to you (rank in order 1-7) Health. Education. Environment. Education. Economy. Law and order. Other

Hope plenty of Rangitata voters double-tick the environment box and educate Goodhew. She’s never denied revving up Timaru’s mayor to complain about ECAN- along with Christchurch’s Bob Parker – setting in train the loss of local democracy and the Government’s agenda to rush new water allocations into place next year in Canterbury without new environmental rules. Extraordinarily, Parker is now calling for earlier new ECAN elections than scheduled. E for consistency.

    Grrrrrr  !

Surely Mr Parker is not declaring a need to return to democracy after his actions last year having being the main driver for suspending Democracy in ECan? Surely he would not do so in order to gain approval just before the Election? No way. He is an honest scrupulous Mayor. :)

  3. Spud says:

Go Super Jim – future Mayor of Christchurch! :-D :-D :-D

In the past few months I’ve received surveys from Charles Chauvel and Katrina Shanks with similar questions.

In both cases they’ve been very badly designed. Not only are you not going to get useful answers, in most cases you’re not even going to get the answers you want to hear.

I have experience in survey design, both with large-scale and targeted collections… is this the right place to ‘hawk my wares’ with an open invitation to all MP’s?

If you want someone to give your surveys an overhaul, I’m your man.

    :)

@ ianmac: when you’re right you’re right, Jim has him running scared.

To quote someone close to ECAN: “They wanted them gone, they got rid of them. What do they then do to change the system they were up in arms about? Zip”.

Why isn’t there a post on the crafar farms that are going to be either sold to foreigners/China or the NZ state Tomorrow!!!

  7. Tracey says:

Dylan, read “Is it the same John Key”

  8. ghostwhowalksnz says:

Parker is just worried about democracy in Canterbury, more specifically the voters turfing him out.

He might have some influence BEFORE the special legislation was passed turning Canterbury into Fiji with Mountains

  9. Dylan says:

@Tracey err that’s slightly relevant… I would like to see a good proper post on it rather than one indirectly related with the main point of it being attacking john key for hippocracy

  10. Ianmac says:

GWW: Mr Parker was the prime mover in writing to Government to demolish ECan.

  11. Loota says:

    Fiji with (snowcapped) mountains.

    That’s just awesome.

  12. Loota says:

Hippocracy – is that when your doctor tells you to take drugs that they wouldn’t take themselves? :P

  13. Loota says:

Brendon, I see you just got positioned as the top story on NZ Herald online re: TVNZ news staff cuts. Nice one.

  14. waterboy says:

New marketing catch phrase for Canterbury ” Fiji with Mountains”

  15. Spud says:
