New Zealand Music Month #5 – Dave Dobbyn

Posted by Grant Robertson on May 5th, 2010

The living legend of New Zealand music, Dave Dobbyn has been part of lots of famous and infamous New Zealand moments.   We could celebrate Th’ Dudes or DD Smash or any part of his solo career. I admit to being a bit of a late comer to appreciating Dave, but nothing made me prouder of Dave than him performing Welcome Home at the opening of the New Zealand War Memorial in London.  Enjoy.

Dave Dobbyn is extremely self-depreciating about his earlier career. Particularly the drug dependency. We are lucky he survived that. He has really added to the New Zealand musical cannon. I’ll have to listen to this when I get a break.
