Heroes-of-Gallipoli-Projection_780x325

I’ve just been to see the Heroes of Gallipoli projection at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Twenty minutes of historic footage from World War One, including priceless footage from Gallipoli that Peter Jackson digitally restored. It includes scenes of  troops at Suvla and Cape Helles, soldiers at Anzac Cove, Turkish bombardments and troops embarking at Imbros Island. Well worth a look. Some good background on it here.

Are your mates at the Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association going to be laying a wreath this year or are they going to burn a flag instead? And you support keeping student unions. They don’t speak for me. Why am i forced to belong to them to gain an education? Should I be forced to join the Labour Party? Whats the difference?

I think they are this year but they’ll probably spit or worse on it first.

My great Grandfather fought and survived Gallipoli only to be injured at the Somme, he went on to become one of NZ’s greatest men – several Great Great uncles also fought in the ‘Great War’ and were less lucky , dying in the trenches, at Gallipoli and other war sites to protect empire and freedom.

There will never be another war like those two , Nuclear bombs and ICBM technology have taken care of that so people in 40 years time will grow up only with the photos and footage of these wars as the class of 44-45 veterans reach into their 90th years’. They will be remembered not just for their sacrifice but for what they stopped. the first time, a Europe under a german dictatorship, the second, a Nazi Slaughterhouse of Europe and Japanese “greater economic sphere of the East” that would have eventually lead to similar actions as in Nazi Europe

We will remember our soldiers, officers and Heroes.

Was it Peter Jackson or the computer gurus at Weka?

  5. Phil Twyford says:

Draco, perhaps both. Jackson seems to get most of the credit, but it according to the blurb on the Museum site that I linked to, the restoration was done using Weta’s technology.

“Should I be forced to join the Labour Party?” – Yes, Dave, you might learn something :P

Aw, come on you pay bugger all compared to the services which get provided for you in return. :-D

    Weta is awesome! :-D
