He (Andrew Williams) said it was his intention to stand for elected office on the Super City Council. He didn’t say if he would run for mayor. (NZ Herald).
Hooray! Sounds like he’s not standing for Super City mayor, but a council seat. That’s great! Have both Len Brown (as mayor) and Andrew Williams in the Super City.
From what I hear, the mud has stuck. The question is, IF he ran for SuperMayor whose votes would he be pilfering? He certainly wouldn’t win.
Come to think of it, Andrew Williams would (perhaps?) make a good deputy mayor to Len Brown. BTW, is the deputy mayor selected from one of the elected councilors in the Super City?
Trev, you have completely misread this one. I guess a Wainui boy can’t be expected to ‘get’ it. Your stadium fiasco proves that! Phil T is on the money, though. The super city will need people like Williams. I wish him all the best.

It would have to be by the sword (and not self inflicted)
Burnt at the stake maybe?
But I’d go down fighting.
Jokes aside, I lived in Oz for 14 years, can see the beenfits of two tier govt, though in Australia there are so many levels of govt in so many states and territories it’s ridiculous. However, two tiers provide important checks and balances. So does our MMP system. It was the Lords bit that got me though. Blerrrkkk!
Clare, or Phil T, do you know where I can get the Covec report Williams presented on Friday?
I like this quote from Andrew Williams when asked about him watering the tree: “I have admitted I am a good Kiwi bloke. I am looking into my horticultural opportunities.”
Jennifer, those who appear before the courts would have been charged with offensive behaviour which encompasses a wide range of anti-social behaviours.

Had Mr Williams been seen by the Police I have little doubt that he would have either been arrested or warned depending on the circumstances. I doubt they would have much sympathy given that he would have walked past at least one public toilet on his 500 metre sojourn to his vehicle.
Dexter does that mean you dont know how many people were arrested or charged with urinating in piublic afterall?
Tracey where did I claim to know the exact number of people charged with offensive behaviour in relation to urinating in public?
It is an impossible figure to derive unless one was to search through every Police summary of facts for offensive behaviour.
If you don’t believe it is something that the Police arrest people for then I would suggest you spend a Monday morning at your local district court.
For clarity Dexter, I was responding to this comment you posted
“The Police generally do, either for offensive behaviour or a lesser more specific offence which from memory carries a fine. ”
This suggested, to me anyway, that you believe that more often than not (generally) police arrest people for urinatingin public. I question that.
