Well done to Adam Hall who has just won a gold medal at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver. This is a fantastic effort. I saw a programme on Sunday about him, and he has done so well to reach this level.

That is reason to celebrate. I taught skiing with the Disabled Skiing Asociation of New Zealand in the ’80s and ’90s.
This is a fantastic result revealing the depth of dedication and effort differently abled people and support organisations have put in over the years with utter determination to achieve top of the podium. Well done all who have given support and encouragement and big ups to the athletes.
Good on yer Adam. Your perseverance transends the mediocre. Well done.
I agree! I saw the story too – just fantastic. So disappointing how the media will opt to run stories of little significance (e.g. the Aussie TV ad girl & the cricketor) over the training & accomplishments of athletes such as Adam Hall. What an amazing feat – kudos to him! I hope he gets a huge welcome when he returns home.
Yee haa!
That’s great!
I find it ironic that the last couple of years, 2008 in particular someone one multiple medals at the Paralympics, but it wasn’t enough to beat an abled bodied person with one, to the top prize.
I’m not criticising the Halberg Trust, rather the judges, many of whom are in our media. They just refuse to make their judgments on skill and achievement, they already judge apples and oranges between able bodied athletes (shot put versus single seater racer) so it shouldnt be a big jump to award paralympians, but it is.
Well done Adam.
and he fell over – a kiwi hero!!
Wahoo!
And congratulations from me, belatedly, who hasn’t been paying enough attention. A 22 year old from Outram, near Mosgiel. Done a fantstic job for New Zealand. Well done to him and his family
Happy St Patrick’s Day, Clare
haha we do better at the special olympics than we do at the real ones
Dylan. there is a huge difference between the elite Paralympics and the participation based special olympics. I won’t go into it but you may want to do some reading about this.
Cheers
