@ A Mother
As a genuine commenter, you help to make this blog site a worthwhile read. Hope you plan to continue. Given the insulting provocation, I think Tracey’s final response to Rebecca was remarkably restrained.
That is a nice thing to say Ann. I think I may go off topic somewhat at times especially when tired when I tend to tell my personal stories. I will continue blogging though.
Anne how can you possibly expect anyone with opposing views to validate anything you say when your comments are dripping with such poisonous innuendos? You insulted me, I retorted, accept it. This is the nature of such things as blogs etc. If you don’t like the possibility of people objecting to the things you say then don’t comment. My post was my opinion and actually rather innocuous. It was you and then Tracey who decided to insult mothers by question whether we could possibly be that well read, educated or knowledgeable because we are more open minded when it comes to the NS. I believe Katrina had a good reason to remove the post and I am happy with what I have read about NS. Deal with it.
You’re right, Rebecca. That lady seems to be dripping with venom everytime she approaches the keyboard.
It’s not for us to say, really, as we’re visitors here too, but if this was treated as someone’s home you’d expect one of the hosts to have a quiet word…
This blog has the potential to be a cut above, but only if everyone makes the effort.
Mods you allow Rebecca to constantly repeat this untruth (that I say parents are uneducated etc etc) while removing my denial. I dont want this turning into a slanging match but be fair, remove her references (repeated) to an unsubstantiated allegation about me.
I NEVER questioned whether parents were educated and well read. I dont even believe that. I asked Rebecca what her friends based their beliefs on so I could ascertain if it was wide reading or media related. or a bit of both. She turned it into a supposition that those who havent given birth could not rightly have an opinion.
Thanks George and yes I agree – I would love to see Labour really capitalise on the variety of people, experiences and opinions that are clearly evident on here.
I only came on here as I would love Labour to be the driving force of change, not National. I think overall a centre left approach is always going to serve us the best in terms of the overall growth of our country and wellbeing of our society.
Tracey I don’t believe that was your intention, but that was how I read it. And no I never said that you couldn’t have an opinion, I merely said that your opinion was only theoretical if you haven’t had children. It’s along the same lines as when I worked in a Kindergarten I really thought I would find handling my own child a piece of cake…until I had my own child. When you’re a parent it does shape your views in ways you never even expect.
Btw, I was on the moderating hot list last night too. Basically we have both taken the issue off its original track so best to just leave it there and just agree to disagree.
This is getting boring!!!!
Argh, we without any liquor!!!
@George – I think Anne is great!
Okay. Now I’m finding this ‘he said’, ’she said’ business unsettling. This is precisely how I argue with my husband and being as plate throwing and make up sex is definitely out of the question in this type of forum, I think it could be time to turn our attention to another topic. Please don’t all turn on me but we need to act quickly before our esteemed Prime Minister does another Woman’s Mag interview.
No problem here. i was reading more of your frustrations at me while mine were deleted that is the only thing tht prompted me to appeal tot he Mods. That has been rectified. I’m all for lively debate and moving on. The end.
Just got back to this looks like we should move on. Good people different opinions.
Spot on, Monique
@ Monique Watson. My comment @ 7.55pm yesterday was not meant as a criticism. In the normal course of events what you had to say was sound advice. But it’s sad to see a good blog site – where individuals could express their views in a safe environment- being ruined by the tone of a few. I have noted in recent times that some well informed commenters who regularly contributed here seem to have gone. Perhaps that’s the nature of the medium, but I have wondered if they were turned off.
Hi Spud,
Thanks for your support, but when a couple of vociferous and negative commenters are allowed to make misleading and deeply offensive personal claims without so much as a censure – let alone deletion – then Mallard is right. It is time to move on… and out. I don’t want to participate here any more. I may change my mind one day but at this stage it’s unlikely.
I don’t want to participate here any more
I think that would be sad. The blog needs as many people of as many shades of opinion as possible contributing.
But just treat the place as if you’re talking face to face with someone. One wouldn’t (if hope) spit in the face of a stranger just because they’d said something one objected to. Yet in blog comments the equivalent happens all the time.
Let’s try to buck the trend here, chaps.
(I hope), of course, not (if hope).
BTW – I don’t consider myself entirely innocent. I’ll try hard not to make nasty comments either. Honest!
