Within ten minutes of the Red Alert post on her poll show 85% opposed Tolley’s lowering of standards going up Katrina Shanks took it down and even deleted it from her archives.
Talk about dishonest. Goebbels would be proud of her attempt to rewrite history.
We are working to get a screen shot of the survey result.

Ha ha ha ha ha
Priceless, you know they should do more polls.
it was probably one of those computer issues that happened to Red Alert as well.
@ spud – Im shocked that many on the left read polls anymore. They dont make good reading for you guys.
chicken mallard – and what happened to the post about (according to you) “the big group that will be worse off” – that just ‘poof’ in a puff of smoke off this site a few mins ago?
[...] 11.33 am Trevor Mallard posts that National MP Katrina Shanks removed a web poll from her site, because 85% of respondents had [...]
What is with you guys comparing Shanks to Goebbels, John Key to Mussolini. Wrong on so many levels.
@ b ikerkiwi – they will
‘listen to the people’, but if you don’t like what they’re telling you, shut down debate. Interesting approach…
@ Nicola – if you thought that was good – you may find this link interesting also: http://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2010/03/the_irony-2.html
A very relevant article..

Hypocrite much?
biker @ 12.06 I hit publish instead of save draft. I know my style is rough but that one is pretty clearly unfinished. Will work on it later today or in morning and it will be up probably in the afternoon. My mistake. Will Katrina do the same.
Mallard @ 2.11 Just another glitch huh?
Dosnt explain the number of other times you have done this on this site:
The edited post about fynlayson
The “He looked just like Mussolini at the Piazzo Navona.” post
etc etc
Come on Trev, the ‘technical glitch defence’ is becoming a little well worn. It really might be better for your credibility to just say ‘Yeah, I didn’t really think that one through, sorry’.
Playing us for fools (even on such a trivial issue) really isn’t a vote winner.
Pot meets kettle for the first time, pot says to kettle arn’t you black and kettle says I sure am.
I’m sure theres a message in there somewhere…
biker – I pulled it – I was open about that.
ummmmm I’ve probably done it four times over the last eight months. Not playing you for a fool but sounds like if the cap fits……
Mark My post will be up tomorrow, the screen shot is available on kiwiblog. Will Katrina’s be up tomorrow. And did hers come down accidently ten minutes after Red Alert drew attention to it. Tui.
Deleted. Off topic. Clare
“Not playing you for a fool but sounds like if the cap fits……”
No point stooping to WhaleOil’s level Trevor. I have voted and supported Labour for the last five elections (including leaflet drops for HC), but I won’t if you are ever elevated to a top position in the Party.
ummmmmm Have a look at your own comment. And I don’t differentiate when people make offensive (albeit gentile) comments about me.
Trevor as long as you stay true to your word & re-post the blog then you’ll be in the clear.
But yes I have noticed it happening a few times on here too…perhaps proof as to why I take so long some days to do our bookwork. :p
However, let’s be honest – we all do things like that in some level; isn’t it wonderful to write something, post it then go back & realise you want to re-phrase so you delete and re-write it.
If only there was an edit function for what comes out of some people’s mouths….
@ Uuumm I voted for National precisely because there are not more people like Trevor in the Labour party. I like people who are prepared to go against the grain….
And you wonder why politicians are viewed with such contempt by the NZ public.
I voted for Labour
The funny thing is i actually admire the way you’re willing to comment on here but really i suspect you haven’t quite come to grips with the immediacy of this new technology and what that means
I’m sure even five years ago you (meaning politicians) could say something and be reasonably sure that only a handful of journos would be able to say anything about it but now anything you say can and will be used against you if you get it wrong/contradict yourself/make a mistake etc etc and it will happen immediately
i love the net, imagine if this was available during the muldoon years…
@ Mark I think we are aware of the immediacy of this technology. I also think we’re willing to show we’re human and have real conversations with people, including you. Heralds a change in politics I think. Even if we don’t agree.
Don’t you mean lamb shanks?
It does herald a change and for the better but even you’d have to agree that this particular blog subject hasn’t gone exactly to plan i’m guessing
butof course the obvious point is that if i didn’t think this blog was worth reading i wouldn’t be commenting on it
so keep up the good work
Pravdablog owner and National Party IT manager – who new?- David Farrar has been re writing history this week over the Don Brash emails ( and faxes and others emails).
He says most MPs couldnt recover an email to save themselves , confirming you are a computer clutz Trev, one day and and an evil genius the next.
I suspect hes the one pulling the strings on nationalMPs.siesta.org.nz. Katrina would take all day to work out how to delete an item and erase from the archives
@ Clare yes it does most certainly indicate a change in the way in which you politicians politic; you are now increasingly forced to actually pay attention to what we, the voting public have to say as more of this voting public realise the power of their inner keyboard warrior. This has got to be a good thing as more dialogue means more transparency which will hopefully translate one day into ‘true’ democracy.
I’ve got a screen shot with 83% no from last night. Who can I send it to?
deleted off thread Trevor
Youtube is the othe rbig change, making it harder for politicians to lie or misspeak without someone putting up
“look at what he/she said then”
now
“look at what he/she says about the same thing now”
national is learning that the hard way.
Funny but way off thread deleted Trevor
I’m not sure blogs are too much different to talkback – always recorded there for the record but spontaneous. But certainly with facebook a good way to have real two way communication.
@Principessa
Love it.
