So who is going into Cabinet
Posted by Trevor Mallard on February 25th, 2010
Intense discussion opposite between Tremain and Foss – the Hawkes Bay rivals for Heatley’s job.
Favourite possibly Nathan Guy but after today’s repeat of yesterdays procedural shambles I will renew my call for Key to bring Hone Carter into cabinet and make him leader of the House.

Oooh, exciting
Good call on Hone Carter. He’ll be done soon beating up Aucklanders at the select committee, so have plenty of time on his hands.
“Maurice Williams and David Carter will take up the housing and fisheries portfolios”, he (John Key) said. (Herald)
Only one option here. Cam Calder. End. Of. Story.
Maurice Williamson and David Carter will be acting Ministers until decisions are new portfolio Minister/s are announced perhaps next week.
That is clear, although there are several versions of the wording around.
‘Acting Ministers’ are a normal part of govt process, for when a Minister is overseas, on sick leave, or when there is a sacking.
‘until decisions are announced about new portfolio Minister/s’
Please Moderators, may I have a (5-minute) Edit button?
@ banksie, what about Pansy Wong. Oops, she’s already a cabinet minister. Well, how about Wayne Mapp? Oops again. Or that human dynamo, Kate Wilkinson? Damn, oops again. Looks like all the talent is spoken for.
Hone Carter? talk about last man standing…
@Jennifer – Talent?
My guess is Nathan to Cabinet and Craig to the Ministry.
I agree David – but it won’t help them run the house. Finlayson was hopeless this morning.
Hone absented himself from the Auckland super city select committee today, leaving Tau in the chair. Maybe he had to rush back to Parliament for emergency talks?
Guy…
If nothing else, Nathan Guy is safe pair of hands….
It is good that Maurice Williamson has been made an ACTING minister because I have never thought of him as a real minister at all!
Lets see – wasn’t he linked to liquor advertising?
Don’t promote Chris Tremain whatever you do. Not the right type.
LOL
Well the National government is as good a reason to drink as any!
