Ok – back to self moderation with a warning to take care not to overdo it to the point where you put others off – or back to the naughty corner for you.
“Do what Trevor says and we can enjoy your sense of humour again” – Um, Anne he never told me to do anything, plus I was never in disagreement with him, so I really can’t see how I was NOT doing as he said, if ya see what I mean.
@Trevor – I’d like you to rephrase naughty corner it’s a rude thing to say. As I have already said, no disagreement on that point, though actually writing an email to me telling me how others are feeling would’ve been better than punishing me straight away.
Finally, I hated that thread fight with Straw, there was no way that I would ever have wanted to write that much in a single thread. I was planning to comment less anyway, this punishment was a redundant exercise all along.
Bromhead needs to be careful with this stylised caricature. The moment I saw it I thought of 1930’s propaganda and the anti semitic caricatures that their Nazi party creative department used to produce.
This is racism in cartoon form and in very poor taste.
BB how can John Key’s forked tongue be construed as racist??
The cartoon is accurate – either Key wants to cut GST or he doesn’t. If he raises GST he will hurt the poor disproportionately, and encourage black market under-the-table trade as a means of circumventing this hideous tax.
Trevor, I realise you wear your kiwi-blokishness as a cloak of pride and are probably the only “bloke” in the labour Caucus but the hooked nose and dark shadows under the eyes are classic nazi style caricatures of Jewish men. I may need to go and shower now. Being called out for PC-ness by a sitting Labour MP has made me feel a bit dirty.
BB jumping at shadows. Trying to make story where there isn’t one. Don’t feel dirty just feel stupid because you have made a tit of yourself. Get over it.
Took the words right out of my mouth!! I hope you (trev) are having a ball with the mining thing – lets hope the crack turns into a really big whole and Lab can drive the death knife into it. Please do not let this one (and the mining) go.
@spud – welcome back from the naughty mat!! (no offense intended – just good to have ya back) – oh, and spud – I have to say I like what Phil said on the news tonight re Keys mining interests – hes warming on me – slowly – but its a start.
National had a well orchestrated campaign of disinformation and image building and de construction. They took, at times, no fact, and spun a tale of arrogance etc etc.
I do NOT think voters are stupid but I KNOW that political parties spend huge amounts of money on marketing / PR and strategists with very good reason. They pay more attention to people who specialise in “hot buttons” than they do to you or I. MOST of national’s strategy was misinformation and name calling,t hey just packaged it subtly.
I point to the basic lack of anything since they got in. They cannot use the recession as an excuse, the financial sector in the USA began collapsing months before the election. They saw the books, and their claim about ACC being in financial trouble was simply a lie.
In another room in another time, Cullen would have stood for everything that national traditionally supported.
Jasper – you are quite correct. Neither the Blue Team nor the Red Team are inclined to remove or even reduce GST. British PM Gorgon Brown just lifted the UK rate back to 17.5%. Taxation is slavery – the more you pay, the less control and owmership you have over your life.
Don’t worry your little (language deleted Trevor) about it. Go read Exodus. You’re in the wilderness, don’t you know? Forty years it took Moses. Nobody hears you, nobody sees you, nobody gives a fig what you say.
Eventually, when the current generation Offensive go back to whatever hole you usually frequent if you want to keep this up Trevor there is a faint chance you might come back.
The Times of London reports that regardless of who wins the next UK general election, VAT will probably rise to 20%. Once again the Blue Team are same as the Red Team… National Socialists rather than Labour Socialists. Both believe the state trumps the individual.
These are the voices of Labour MPs on issues that we care about - and we'd like to hear what you think too. What you’ll read are the individual opinions of MPs. We won’t always agree with each other and sometimes our opinions may change.
LOL
Cough, take me off moderation, Trev, cough.
Ok – back to self moderation with a warning to take care not to overdo it to the point where you put others off – or back to the naughty corner for you.
Hello Spud
Do what Trevor says and we can enjoy your sense of humour again.
forked – that’s good.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but that’s how it came out.
@ Spud I was only referring to the “self moderation” bit of Trevor’s comment @ 10:08am. I never found you off-putting.
Thanks Anne.
An edit button would be good, that comment kinda just came out. It’s hard reading comments and knowing how to take them just from print.
Back on thread.
Simple and brilliant. I hope Labour use it in every way possible. What about a mass showing in the debating chamber?

Forked tongue and uranium on his breath!
BB PC nonsense.

I think Bromhead has put too much ‘life’ into Key’s eyes.

Richard, for the record, “this hideous tax” was introduced by a Labour government and then raised by 25% by a Labour government.
Hi Paul
I prefer to call it the dungeon of darkness, but yes it’s great to be back
I knew you’d become a convert.
@Phil Lyth – Spuddy’s out
Mwahahahaha!!!
Broomhead has it just right, the MSM may want to suck up to Key but this cartoon does give a sense of reality to the man just as Steve Braunias does.
you guys just don’t get it do you….
this type of shite turned voters off in 2008….
it’s almost like you’ve got a learning disability….
good luck on those opposition benches….
Shane

I’d give it a minimum of twenty years.
Adolf- Exodus 23.1
Sorry, you might not have Exodus,(the one not by Leon Uris), in your book shelf.
“You shall not spread a baseless rumour. You shall not make common cause with a wicked man by giving malicious evidence.” Exodus 23.1
I actually think this one is funnier! http://www.nzherald.co.nz/news-cartoons/news/article.cfm?c_id=500814&objectid=10624182
Just about sums them up.
