Red Alert

Red Alert is nine months

Posted by Clare Curran on February 5th, 2010

I thought our nine month anniversary was worth noting, because nine months is like  well…gestation… and we are Labour. And I feel kind of motherly towards it.

Now that I’ve got that out the way, a few Red Alert stats:

  • We’re approaching a million page views
  • 1369 posts
  • Behind The Standard and Kiwiblog, Facebook is our third-largest referrer of traffic

Shan’t comment on who’s done the most posts, because we all know who that is. But we’ve now got 35 out of 43 MPs posting and more coming.

And there’s some imminent exciting new developments which will take Red Alert and Labour in new directions.

Keep reading us, commenting and participating. We are irrelevant without you.

    Awesome Clare :D

It would be great to see Phil and Annette posting regularly, so if you could pass the hint on :)

  2. James says:

… and thats not saying we don’t appreciate you and Trev and the rest ;D

  3. Trevor Mallard says:

James I don’t think a leader has the time to monitor and respond to comments the way most of the Red Alert posters do. We have made it clear that it is a MP not staff function and while we might get Annie to do a few more don’t think we can tie Phil down in that way.

The caucus is finally putting Trev in charge officially?

New leader perchance? Some policy around how your strategic plan will see you win at the next election and how you are going to bring middle income nzers back?

    Incidentally, while we appreciate that
phil is busy – he could schedule some time – that way he might connect with those of us who don’t think hes the right man…

  6. James says:

Trevor, I definitely understand and respect what you’re saying, but from a Labour supporter point of view, a word from the leader and deputy on the party blog once or twice a week would be good :D

  7. Martin says:

Go Red Alert!! This blogsite is so much better than the National one. I’m looking forward to hearing about the new developments.

  8. Ben says:

As a thought – why don’t you have ads on here? Could generate a bit of revenue for the ever cash-strapped party…

Could also maybe generate a bit more traffic by referring to the blog more in interviews (”as I say in my Red Alert blog…”)?

    Just some thoughts…

  9. Ben says:

    Oop, also meant to say:

Congrats Clare! Well done! Keep up the good work!

“a word from the leader and deputy on the party blog once or twice a week would be good” – They are very busy people and I’m of the view that blogging is something that no one should be pressured into. Blogging is a personal thing and should be a personal choice.

@Paul – Man if Labour got a new leader at this stage I’d lose respect for the party. Sorry can’t get into a debate with you though as I’ve been gagged.

    @Ben LOL :-D

  11. A Mother says:

Love Red Alert. Keep up the good work.

  12. paul says:

Hi spud – been quiet here without you. When is Trev lifting the gag? And yes, we will continue to agree to disagree regarding Phil

  13. Spud says:

    @A Mother – Hi :-D
@Paul – “When is Trev lifting the gag?” When satan buys skis.

We don’t have to agree on Phil, we agree on most things, it just doesn’t seem right lynching one’s own. I’ll shut up now. Have no choice unless I want to stay up until midnight :x

  14. Spud says:

@ A Mother – used to love Red Alert, now I hate it and feel like an outsider. :-(

  15. A Mother says:

    You’re not an outsider spud.
Hang in there and it will get better.
