Chris Liddell is a Kiwi who has done really well internationally. He was CFO Microsoft. He has recently been named as CFO General Motors with an expectation that he will become CEO in the relatively short term.
While I haven’t always agreed with Chris there is no doubt he is a person who is prepared to think outside the square – to look for solutions, rather than focus on whats wrong, and is pleasant to spend time with. He always has time for Kiwis and is a great supporter of Kea. A real example of someone who could well do more for NZ from offshore than at home.
Congratulations Chris. Work hard on those electric vehicles. I’m sure we can help with a hydrogen fuel cell battery technology.
A bit of nostalgia. Probably the Kiwi who previously had the highest ranked job at GM – Manager Asia Pacific? used to live next door to me in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Wainui. He was Treasurer for NZ at the time. Wasn’t ever a qualified accountant. Then again I don’t think Chris is either. Message there somewhere.
It’s about time they put those patents to use!
