"It is an opportunity to meet leaders who after a few such meetings might make themselves more available to meet him or take his phone calls."
Oh thank goodness, for a while there I was thinking he was going to doom us to economic suicide.

Life would be boring if no one flew. :-( Yep, NZ is a tiny player. I'm all for caring for the environment, stongly so, but if this carbon thing is a con then the whole world is being tricked into being regressive.

"....It is an opportunity to meet leaders..."

Except that as pablo points out over at Kiwipolitico, at APEC John Key "...did not have a single bilateral meeting with anyone of import."

If climate change is real then it's up to china and the states etc. If it's a con, then we're all gonna be depriving ourselves for nothing.

why are we not preparing our shores for sea rises?

i've checked with all of the independent weather and climate agencies. None claim sea rises. None predict any temperature rises for 20 years out.

What we should think about is the damage to our low income earners, rates rises, loss of businesses, unemployment. i think we should think about the false allegory here and ask our members to call for an honest approach instead of being made to look silly if it all crumbles.
