Two days till the 160k race. I’m getting a bit nervous. Still jet lagged – got home from London Tuesday and sitting under urgency.
I’ve had two rides since I got home, both easy. Did three sessions on gym bike while away – total about three hours. Never tapered before so we will see if it works.
Weather doesn’t look too good for weekend – and getting worse so would be good to finish as early as possible.
I’ve got a plan which involves sitting in a bunch of strong riders and being dragged around. If the weather holds up I’m pretty confident I can beat my 5.31 pb by about 15 min.
But somehow the edge has gone without Nikki Kaye being in the race to add motivation.
Harden up Trevor and do it anyway! Jetlag? You would have flown business class so there is no excuse. We shall be blogging your achievement for sure and giving you credit where it is due if you finish.
Do it! Set a time she can only dispair at achieving! Get TVNZ7 to make a documentary about it featuring you doing a sixty second party political broadcast on behalf of the Labour Party as a promo for it!
Hekia Parata said on Back Benchers last night that she had been Nikki’s main rival in the race, so now you can challenge Hekia.
Are your trainer wheels firmly attached? Given the expected weather conditions you can always use that as an excuse rather than lack of training and being jet-lagged.
Here’s some motivation, you have a lot of bloggers here who want you to do well and will be waiting for your results. Plus you’ll have bragging rights! Now go kick butt!
“Weather doesn’t look too good for weekend – and getting worse so would be good to finish as early as possible.”
That’s the story Trevor. Keep visualising – the sooner you finish, the sooner you can down a celebratory beer.
Now I have really rough throat – Nats described me as biosecurity risk as I was speaking. I’m really please that Nikki isn’t riding.
Wouldn’t it be great if certain things couldn’t be rammed through parliament because NACT all lost their voices? (I don’t actually wish illness on them). Lots of vit c and salt water Trev.
True Spud. Though it would be better if Bills weren’t rammed through parliament because Bills were worked though the normal process with committees and three readings.
Agreed Sean.
Good luck for TAUPO Trev, get the fluids in early and find a good big pact to sit on or a Tandem. Keep it smooth mate and dont watch for Tories just your front wheel. If you can beat 5.17 I will join you next year. Is Steve Maharey still Riding?
Steve is still doing a bit – thought we might see him at Hunterville. Don’t think we have done an event together except bike to work from Wainui about eight years ago where he got so far in front he went to Upper Hutt instead of via Petone.
