National Party MPs have entered the blogosphere via an official looking blog attached to the National Party’s website. It’s called Meet your MP.
Kiwiblog posted on it earlier today. I guess David Farrar had the job of announcing it to the world. Nice video clip of Hekia Parata leading it off. Nice quality. Innocuous posts so far, some with a promotion angle for a government policy.
I posted a comment on the first few posts asking each author; Simon Bridges, Chris Finlayson, Hekia Parata, Eric Roy, Craig Foss whether they had written the posts themselves, and whether they had posted them.
In the blog world, it’s pretty much expected that to have credibility you need to not only write your own posts, but also post them yourself. Otherwise it becomes a PR exercise and lacks authenticity. I asked the questions in my comment posted about 11am this morning. None of my comments have appeared yet.
Not a good start.
I had a quick look and thought that it was a nice looking professional site .. the thing is that I started yawning within minutes .. I hope that is just a start.
I don’t see Kiwiblog as the Nats real site as it allows “the enemy” to enter and add comments without instant deletion or banning in the way RA can sometimes do. I did get 100 demerits once but I was a bad boy and took my punishment without dummy spitting like I do when censored here sometimes.
What an astounding metaphor for where we are politically. National copy Labour but can’t help but screw it up. Because they’re not actually copying it – more engaging it some insubstantial PR legerdemain that’s meant to look like Labour’s work. Depressingly, we can expect lots of breathlessly positive coverage from our media about how original and cutting edge National is being.
Even if Teh Standard is not your regular reading, check out what they have to say about http://nationalmps.co.nz. Even the footnotes.
Priceless.

(Admin, it hasn’t popped up here as a thingy, trackback or whatever: is that not automatically done by Wordpress?)
[It usually is yeah, not sure why it hasn't been, will investigate, cheers - admin]
Favourite post: Nikki Kaye is a trooper. Essentially the point of the post is that a week after having her fall and hurting her leg (not her mouth) Nikki Kaye was able to speak. And…? It claims to be a ‘News Article’. It’s about as newsy as a Farmville update on Facebook…
