Red Alert

Red Alert conference

Posted by on September 13th, 2009

Good example of MPs giving much better coverage than could possibly happen thru MSM.  Unmediated is gr8.

Quick count 22 posts from 11 MPs. Range from light – thanks Lianne you will keep – to a couple which go to the core of our electoral system. Maybe next time we should try and do a bit of a roster to get a better cover of remit, fringe and organisational workshops. We do need to get some consistent formating for speeches to aid posting for beginners.

Thanks Trevor and the other posters. Good to get a varied account of Conference- we can’t all get there every year.

  2. Shane Field says:

I was sitting a couple of rows behind (and slightly to the left) of you during the powhiri, and I saw you using your laptop/notebook/whatever. Were you posting on Red Alert then? And also during the Affiliates council meeting. Thanks for taking the time during the conference to do so (and thanks to others as well). I haven’t had the chance to get near a computer during the conference, so I’m just catching up on it all now.

  3. Spud says:

Yeah, thanks Trevor and co :-)

  4. Hilary says:

If you were all more e-linked these would have all been twittered and facebooked to alert a wider audience. Some have. Grant Robertson is good at this.

  5. Spud says:

Just wait until Trevor is let loose on Facebook! :-o :-D

  6. Hilary says:

Spud – But will he have any friends?

  7. Spud says:

LOL :-D Spuddy will be his buddy :-D

  8. Tigger says:

Hilary – give it time. From what I heard at the conference I’m confident that the caucus knows this is the just the start…and a great start it is. This is a very brave thing for Labour to do and I heartily endorse this open access to our politicians. Other countries can only dream of having such ability to converse directly with their representatives.

  9. johnbt says:

I heartily agree that it is great to have such direct access to our MPs in this way. Even if they do not always agree with the meessage some of us send. Smiley face.

  10. jabba says:

correct Tigger .. I have e-mailed a couple of MP’s (Labour and Nat) and it took weeks for a reply.

  11. johnbt says:

johnbt your repeated offences and now obscene language has earned you a three month period where you are banned from commenting on Red Alert Trevor.

  12. Trevor Mallard says:

Shane @12.08 Yes in the opening – think I was doing emails during affiliates meeting.

  13. jnaylor says:

    Tigger: Yeah – I’ll second that! ;)

I was sitting behind Clare Curran during Andrew Little’s speech and she posted to Red Alert at least twice then.
