Michael Jones – why did 6 boys from a west auckland lower decile school and a certain community get such a harsh punishment as opposed to boys from the other side of the tracks?

I’ve just caught up with what the two guys John Key took around the Pacific said about the Kelston v Grammar punishments. Both make a lot of sense.

Trevor, the Grammar boys looked like ring-ins to me.

Probably from a decile 1 or 2 area and another “certain community” not a 6.

Which of course raises another question about rugby in schools in Auckland.

But isn’t it nice to have some diversity in a decile 10 school so Grammar can win at important things, like rugby?

    Trevor,
I did think there was a certain irony in the fact that both ex rugby players were being exposed to what their political masters and their ilk are truly about.
If Jones and Tuigamala really want to do something for their people then maybe the pair of them need to take a long hard look at who they are snuggling up to.
The pair of them are respected within the Pacific community, unfortunately this respect will be eroded if they continue to be associated with this Government.

So GFraser, when was it the government started handing out disiplinary sentances for the ARU? Oh thats right just another pathetic attempt to hang something around the governments neck that they have absolutly nothing to do with. Well done.

The best thing to come out of this whole sorry mess was Mt Albert kicking AG’s arse in the final. A win for the neutrals…

  5. GFraser says:

Geek, Look over there—> That’s the point you missed.
Do you honestly think that the supensions handed down are fair and reasonable?
Also why did the Ags students receive the lighter sentence?

  6. bikerkiwi says:

GFraser – did you not read the commentary from the people who handed down the sentence – it works out with both teams having a 4 match ban.

Its just over what elapsed time. No point banning for 4 weeks when there is no rugby for goodness sake.

So with BOTH teams missing the same amount of games – is that not reasonable and fair?

  7. bikerkiwi says:

also – you say “Also why did the Ags students receive the lighter sentence?”

If both receive a 4 match ban – is that not the same sentence?

  8. Geek says:

I don’t have enough information to know if it was fair. Nor do you. I fail to see how your comments about two National party supporters having to assess their support based on this is any more valid.

AGS students got lighter sentances because they didn’t instigate the fight. KBG students got heavier sentances because they did and more of them got involved after it started. The reason they are so long is probably because if they were given a standard 8 week ban at this time of year it will have NO effect because they would not be playing rugby again in that period. If they had been given the same bans you would have seen AGS players actually missing the most important game of the year and KBG players not missing a single game. Why is this so hard to understand.
