Red Alert

Teaser

Posted by Trevor Mallard on July 4th, 2009

Weird things happened at Education & Science Committee this week. Unprecedented Tory abuse of process. To say what happened would breach privilege and I won’t do that. But I’m working to remedy and expose.

so you’re deleting comments balance of this post and previous deleted as offensive – final warning Cujo Trevor

[Repost this comment without the abuse and it won't be deleted - admin]

  3. Adolf Fiinkensein says:

Obscene deleted Trevor of the world, unite!

  4. George D says:

I hope you can tell us soon.

According to Parliament’s website; Alan Peachey, Louise Uspton, Colin King, Jo Goodhew, and Roger Douglas are all members.

  5. Whaleoil says:

Trev, your constant use of the word Tory is…well…just plain incorrect. The only people who call national Tories are labourites. It simply isn’t in the common vernacular of Kiwis other than union hacks and Labour party appartchiks.

This isn’t the UK. But I know you like to use their tactics like Pledge Cards, Cash for honours, attack websites, so I guess you can use pommy epithets that dosen’t make sense and don;t resonate with the ordinary Kiwi battler.

  6. Trevor Mallard says:

Whale is that really you complaining of cash for honours and attack websites. You feeling ok?

  7. Wayne says:

I hear he’s been feeling a bit bloated lately.

  8. Boris McCarty says:

The news of dysfunctionality of the Education and Science subcommittee is no surprise to me. Having said that, I would have thought members like Roger Douglas and Colin King would have been doing their best to see that the committee ran properly.

If you say there has been “Tory abuse of process” in this committee, are you casting doubt on the way chairperson Allan Peachey is running it?

Please expose your concerns about this important subcommittee. I always thought the media and public could be at such meetings – therefore what is the secret all about?

  9. Mac1 says:

Whaleoil, to paraphrase yourself, your use of the word appartchik is… well…
just plain incorrect, as is dosen’t and don;t. ;-)

  10. Idiot/Savant says:

According to the Parliamentary website, E&S “met on 1 July to hear evidence on the 2009/10 Estimates for Vote Education and Vote Education Review Office”. I guess I should actually bother reading htat report when it comes out then.

  11. Boris McCarty says:

The twin mistakes of having Chopper Tolley as Minister of Education and Allan Peachey Chairperson of the Education and Science committee inspire little confidence in the direction Education is taking +

Add to that we have Heather Roy and (poodle) Pita Sharples as Associate Minister +

Add to that a lightweight National Party presence on the committee +

Add to that the performance of the Ministry of Education and Education Review Office +

Your asssessment of the committee’s work makes complete sense Trevor. Please get the word out asap.

  12. Gidday says:

Off topic, inaccurate, offensive. Deleted. Trevor

  13. Whaleoil says:

    Yes Trevor it is.

Need I mention Owen Glenn and as for attack sites well, at least I am self funded.

  14. Whaleoil says:

Mac1, those are typos, I humbly apologise, now if you’d care to debate the substance…nah didn’t think so, all I ever get from the left are comments about my hair and weight.

  15. Trevor Mallard says:

Whale – I was on the committee that recommended Glenn’s honour. His donation to the party had been well publicised and was a disadvantage to him. Politically it would have made much more sense not to honour him. It is my view that donations to parties should be viewed neutrally ie it shouldn’t help get an honour but also it should not be held against someone. I’m pleased that view prevailed. The donations that helped him were to Auckland University and the Millenium Institute.

And Red Alert is self funded too. No taxpayers funds.

  16. Whaleoil says:

I wasn’t talking about Red Alert Trevor and you know it.

  17. Trevor Mallard says:

As it happened I wasn’t thinking of the wonderfully accurate predictions of Key posted on youtube. More documentary than attack on reflection.

I did think you were refering to Red Alert but thinking some more I understand you better. Remember this is a new world for me.

  18. Mac1 says:

Whale-oil, I picked you up on the typos because when I am attacked as being an apparatchik, which is perjorative, then at least I like to know that the person calling me one can spell it and maybe know what it means. Anyway, an appartchik sounds a bit too androgynous.

I personally would never comment on your hair or your weight. Luckily perhaps for both of us the blogosphere is silent on visual cues, so long as we confine ourselves to words. But gratuitous insults need to be spelt properly, don;t they?

Weight has never been a problem in NZ politics- indeed most of our Prime Ministers have been either very big-Seddon, Massey, Lange, Kirk- or short- Holyoake, Muldoon, Rowling, for examples.

And hair- goodness where would a politician be without either Dunne or Henare type hairdos? I got beaten by a candidate who dyes his hair, which was very difficult not to mention.

Your assertion that I as a left winger would automatically engage in ad hominem comments, is a bit like Sir Robert Jones who said that all lefties have no sense of humour.

As for the ’substance’ of your remarks, in another sense of the word, really there is not much to reply to, apart from the assertion that only Labourites or Union hacks (more slanging) call National members “Tories”. I know that our esteemed fellow commenter Redbaiter certainly says there are no Tories in the National Party. Far too left wing, far too socialist so Redbaiter would agree with you, and we all know what he thinks of socialists.

So, we just have to battle on with our respective assertions.

  19. Whaleoil says:

Yes, but you are so suited to it. I think you are doing a great job.

  20. Gidday says:

Deleted. Off topic and offensive. Multiple offences tonight. You were warned when your comment on Chippie’s post was deleted. Find somewhere else to play during your one week ban. Trevor

  21. Boris McCarty says:

    Trevor –

I must object when right-wing bloggers deliberately seek to drive you off the topic. The one reassurance is when they do this, it is a sure sign you are on to something big!

It may be no coincidence that one of the best known whaling stations and sources of whale oil was Tory Channel!!

  22. Gidday says:

Deleted. Off topic, personal abuse. I regret that I am going to have to learn how to implement bans myself but your ban just got extended to a month and it will be three months if you comment again before admin does his technical thing. Trevor

  24. Arts says:

You are a typical teaser aren’t you Trevor?

    How long must we wait?

Or are you waiting for Michael Jackson story to die away?

  25. Trevor Mallard says:

    About Tuesday 14th.

  26. Arts says:

How is the Education and Science Subcommittee these days Trevor?

Any more weird things, or unprecedented Tory abuse of process?

Everyone must have noticed that compared with Health for example, National has converted Education into an absolute battleground. Who do we turn to?

  27. Trevor Mallard says:

Really good Acting chair at the moment. He chairs his first meeting next Wednesday.

    Have a look here :- http://ourhouse.parliament.nz/en-NZ/PB/Business/QWA/

  28. Boris McCarty says:

When searching under ‘Trevor Mallard’ and ‘Education’ portfolio – there are certainly innumerable questions for written answers regarding characteristics of individual schools. Similar volumes of similar questions can be found under name Allan Peachey for the previous parliamentary term I see.

Do ministries and schools feel harrassed by all these queries? Are you going to collate or compare results for every school in New Zealand? And who is acting chair and is this a medium term appointment?

  29. Blair says:

Trevor – what’s the point of all the questions? Must be costing the Ministry a lot in man/women hours? Can you justify it?
